Coaching Carousel

Have to imagine that Oregon job would be one that other guys at big-names schools would quietly interview for.
Interesting. I'm of the opinion that Oregon basketball is going to continue on the decline and be a B10 bottom feeder, like Rutgers Football. Just don't see them being successful there.

Athletic Department probably top 15 or 20 in revenue, and that was before getting Big 10 dollars. They will pay a lot for the right coach I think.

Oregon led the Pac 12 in revenue, but would be 6th in the Big ten. Safe to say they're moving up a weight class, won't be easy.

How about 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon. 2010 Ernie Kent gets let go at Oregon.

Mike Dunlap and Kenny Payne are two of his top assitants. Payne goes to Kentucky and Dunlap joins Lavin here at SJU.

Oregon goes after Izzo and Jamie Dixon then at Pitt cannot lure either with a shit ton of money. They settle for Dana Altman at Creighton. Greg McDermott had left the MVC-Norther Iowa to take over Iowa St. That was not going great so he jumps at the chance to go back to MVC and coach Creighton and replace Altman. Now McDermott is coaching in the BE against SJU.

Always like to see it when former St. John's coaches do well. I hope he hires Paul Hewitt and Jim Baron for his staff.
Great staff! One guy gets you to a certain acceptable level and then never moves a millimeter beyond it, and the other guy a great recruiter who somehow comes off like a complete dud when you actually hear him speak.

I could be wrong, but I do not see Moser taking the DePaul job.
I agree. Coming up with money for a competitive contract offer is only half the battle. Now the school also has to show said coaching candidate, they can pool a substantial NIL fund. I do not think DePaul can do that.

I don't think some of you are fully grasping how F'ing horrible it would be to live in Oklahoma. 😁

Was Moser praying that Illinois would be as bad as DePaul this year? I'd bet my life on it.

But when you really want to get out of a place that you regret going to in the first place simply for money, and DePaul is the best job near where you want to live, I think you take the job and worry about not making progress six years from now when you have an additional $21 million in the bank in a fun, affordable city.
