Coaching Carousel

A perfect fit.

Xavier usually does a good job finding coaches (Steele being the exception), so I'm sure they'll be fine, too.

EDIT: Looks like a parody site. But, I still think he would be a perfect fit, there, and I think Xavier will be fine if he goes.
Sure they could pay more, but not convinced it’s an easier place to win.

I actually think it's a national championship job.

Now that I'm thinking about it, my first call might have been to see if Calipari wanted a change of scenery.
It’s in the Big ten, are there any of those in that conference 🤣

Seriously though, so many teams with so much history, money, and solid home courts, I think it’s easier to win at Xavier. Or maybe, harder to lose is better way to put it. Could Ohio state have more of a peak ceiling? Yeah, but tough treading to get there.

And FWIW I think Holtmans a hell of a coach. And before last season EVERYONE thought he was as well.

Grass isn’t always greener. Chris Mack had it rolling at Xavier, didn’t last long at Louisville. Chris Holtman had a good thing going at Butler and while he had some good years at Ohio St early on, he didn’t get a very long leash. Kevin Willard had a great run at Seton Hall and while he’s been decent at Maryland two years in I would guess that if they don’t take a major step up next year Terp fans will start to turn on him

Shaka Smart is doing better, and A LOT happier at Marquette than at Texas.

I guarantee you the grass might not be greener in college park than it is in south orange but the money sure is.

Parody account aside it would not surprise me at all if OSU and X essentially traded coaches.

Also Freemantle is very good but (a) I thought his game went in the wrong direction last year and (b) his lateral quickness is suspect. He would probably be a role player here and might prefer to go somewhere he is featured (see Soriano, Joel).

Keep an eye on Kyle Smith who has done a solid job at Columbia, San Francisco and now leading the PAC at Washington State, really gifted HC.

Btw, former SJ staff member under Steve Lavin,
Derrick Wrobel, is AC at Washington St now.

Regarding Freemantle, who has been mentioned on this thread, he is a different kind of kid. Being from Bergen County, I have heard some stories. He's a tough competitor (as we have all witnessed), but can drive a coach batty. Not sure if he and Pitino are a fit.
