Coaching Carousel

Lav is genuinely a good dude. Very upbeat. Very positive. Has an uncanny ability to remember everyone's name. He treated everyone regardless of rank very well in the athletic department.
He is extremely loyal to his former players, maybe too much (see Hines, Rico).
Cancer deflated him big time. His recruiting took a dip then a dive after that monster first class. He would get the occasional 5 star in Obekpa and Jordan, but then surround them with the DeLarosa bros, Bourgalt, Amar, Balamou, Jones - guys who were not BE caliber players at all. At the end with his core players graduating after a disappointing first-round exit, it seemed like another rebuild and quite honestly, I don't know if he was up for it. And leadership was infatuated with Mullin long before Lav was booted.

Anyway, so lawmanfan doesn't yell at me for going off topic: Wow there's lots of coaches going to different schools and whatnot. What an offseason.

believe he will be in his element in San Diego. first job without the outsized expectations of the fans. Hope he does fine he deserves it.

Having dealt with cancer last 2 years, takes awhile to recoup your energy and mojo. Wondered how he and other Coaches do it their absurd schedules.

Hey, may he even be sporting Flip Flops on the sideline?

Leaving a decent Wagner program that you have helped build for a total rebuild job in the MAAC doesn't even seem like a lateral move to me.
MAAC is a slightly better conference then the NEC. NEC is a guaranteed 16th seed play in while MAAC should be no worse then 15.

If hew lives in NNJ, he can save tolls instead of schlepping into SI

St. Peter's is a tough job right now. Can only go down from here.
He just saw a guy jump from St. peter's to the Big East, so he's definitely betting on himself.

It'll be a scramble to fill spots with decent kids, but if you are Jersey kid below Rutgers/Seton Hall level, do you even look at the Riders and FDUs of the world anymore? We'll see soon enough I suppose.

Told by someone close that they will consider Urgo but they are definitely going to interview others. Hearing Kimani Young is being looked at and so is Van Macon.
