I'd thought they'd wait until after the Saint Peters parade in Jersey City on Friday.

Wow. 
I thought they'd go with the assistant coach to try to keep some of that team together.

AC Ryan Whalan probably goes with Holloway and gets sufficient $ and can still live in area. Hitching your wagon to BE program apparently will trump getting HC gig at tough place to sustain success. It may be smart move.

Maybe, but Holloway endorsed him and HC jobs only come around so often. 
Plus the career track for assistant coaches at SH is to become HCs at places like St. Peter's.

 
 
They had to break the bank to get Holloway up to $266,000. Leckie was making about $85,000 and they broke the bank to pay Dunne.

Would an assistant at Seton Hall being making at least that? Plus better job security and less stress following Holloway everywhere.

 
 
This isn't about money but neither the SPU HC job or  an assistant job at SHU pay a lot anyway.

I think it is simpler than that, SPU thinks that Knight is a better HC prospect. No way Whelan gave up an opportunity to be a HC even if it is SPU to go work on SHU staff.  Not a chance.  Even if the money was slightly more.

I think he got passed over.

As for the Butler coaching search, here are two names to watch based on what I am told:

Indiana Pacers assistant coach Ronald Nored, who played for the Bulldogs from 2008-12

Ohio head coach Jeff Boals, who is a disciple of Thad Matta

I believe Boals left Stony Brook for the Ohio job.
