I'm hearing Coach K with Zion planning to follow him over here

twitter is garbage sometimes.

I would pass on Scheyer. He's 31 years old, 5 years on the bench with Coach K. He has experience with only one program.....which is a program in a much different place than ours. Jon may be a good prospect, but he has never been privy to the process that we need to undergo. We need either more experience or a proven track record.

Right I had to google his name right...

The guy next to me is reading this and laughing...

'Something' seems to be 'happening'.
Just so much smoke and buzz from numerous directions.
True, as one poster said (Marillac)?), it could be from the 'same' bad source, with folks repeating it.
But it's been sooo quiet on the AC front, zero 'movement' to even replace Matt.
All in, it makes me think that 'something' is indeed up.
Personally hoping Chris steps aside on a high note and--as improbable as it seems--Bobby Hurley becomes our new coach.
He can recruit and he 'eats' hoops...for a living.
Lol.

since we are dreaming...ill throw out a staff id like. Now mind you this will come with criticism and rightfully so because I do not know all the great coaches out there but i know my fair share. So I'll throw the dice and take:
HC- Jon Scheyer
AC- Mike Rice
Asst- HSU
Asst- Borman
Asst- Jamien Christian
Of course if we had a loaner of Rick Pitino for a few years, that would attract a lot of attention and he can handle the media, loves NYC, recruits know him, etc.
-Mike Young another good up and coming coach
-Porter Moser- from Loyola-Chicago
I originally liked the Hurley brothers ( either of them) but don't know how invested they'd be in program. Ideally need another Fran F w/o the antics. He knew the game, recruited, had passion, had us on the rise....until he dropped his pants. oh well, our luck right???? anyway, just having some fun with some names. Also love Mark Jackson, NBA legend but unlike Mully he was a coach prior and he seems more X/o guy than Mully but I guess the NBA thing won't fly. If changes do come-which I think should, again Mully will always be a johnnie legend. A big thank you for coming back, but we all know the right thing to do here. Go johnnies!!! oh and id love to break in D'Angelo somehow into our staff. Seems like he would thrive under that role and he can preach his hard work ethic and the love the fans / city have for him.

Believe he was saying sometimes lots of people have the same bad source, however this is likely NOT the case here. In other words, something's going on.

"Now hearing from source Mullin expects to be paid to go away despite the fact a voluntary resignation voids buyout. Sounds like SJU saying "no" and Mullin is saying "then I'm staying" and SJU is like ****"

In spite of many people saying Mullin came here to resurrect the program, I think his main motivation was his $13 million contract.

And this is what happens when you give someone a long term contract.
LISTEN, ISN'T RECRUITING IN COLLEGE PART OF THE JOB DESCRIPTION?
IF HE'S NOT DOING EVERYTHING IN THE JOB DESCRIPTION, WHY CAN'T WE VOID THE F'ING CONTRACT.

TAKE HIM TO COURT IF SJU HAS TO. Chris wants to play hard ball? So lets play.
SJU is a law school.

I wonder how Louie feels about "Chris Mullin" now.

That's 'negotiating', i think.
The take-away here is that if this buzz is accurate, both parties 'see' the exit door, and the Mack news may give Mullin leverage but St. John's additional motive to act.
Trusting Cragg can strike a deal here.
We shall see.
Pray Texas fires Shaka Smart and go all in on trying to hire him.

Just my two cents.
Why do you want Shaka? He coaches at a school that is probably in the top five nationally in terms of resources available to the athletic program and, in 4 years, is 71-66 overall and 31-41 in the Big 12. His team has not won an NCAA tournament game yet.

Pretty pedestrian numbers to me.
Bobby Gonzalez out of coaching since 2010. He left SH on pretty bad terms as I recall.
Certifiable nut job!!!

He just won the NIT and I believe his style is more suited for the Big East.

But it’s irrelevant now since Texas won’t fire him.
What kind of deal?
A 'discount' off the remainder of the contract. Just guessing but maybe $1.5mm - 2mm to step aside.
Hufley makes $3mm/yr and he'd owe ASU $2.5mm if he left.
So, a discount.
We shall see.

As far as I'm concerned Mullin has already stolen $8.5 million. What other school gives a head coach with zero coaching experience a 6 year contract at $2.1+ million a year? Combine that with the bad AC hires and the poor work ethic. Before this disaster is over we may look back fondly at Mullin's first year.
