Some of y'all should hear yourselves.... You're "fine" with Cluess coming on board as long as he brings in "this guy," "that guy," "a solid staff," "a great staff," "dynamic group of assistant coaches," etc.
Don't get me wrong, as assistant coaches are very valuable. But I'm extremely leery of bringing in a head coach who needs certain type of assistant coaches for him to function or for me to be "cool" with it. We've already been down that road (although, I think Cluess would be a much better for us than Mullin).
I want a head coach where the first thing I think about is the head coach himself, and the assistant coaches are thought about as just that... Assistance. An integral part of our team and team building, but the head coach is clearly THAT DUDE.
If Cluess gets the job, then he may prove me wrong. But currently I just don't see him as THAT DUDE.
EDIT: I think some of y'all are striving for Providence and Seton Hall. If that's the case, then I think Cluess could possibly get us on that level. But several of y'all are already aware that neither of those two programs does anything for me. They are decent-to-mediocre on any given season, and that doesn't make me giddy in the least.
Give me JT3's first 7 or 8 years at Georgetown. I believe that's something to write home about.
