regarding Obekpa's visit to Oregon

I just hope Phie Knight's checkbook isnt around when he visits.
r
Very asute opinion and pretty close to the truth.

I'm sorry but It gets old reading that someone's else checkbook is open for mostly every recruit we are going for. Pretty much every school has a blank check except us!!!

Sorry you feel that way.

Frankly,I thought.after the visit Lavin would have recd a committment

Commentators at game posted mentioned Obekpa with a list of schools and we were down the list mentioned as the 4th or 5th. Uconn mentioned first. So no new info. disclosed.

In light of the mess that UCONN is rapidly becoming, why would he place them first?

My guess is that it's a random list. I think we're probably in good shape. Time will tell I guess. Spring signing coming soon.

I believe the all american game with Obepka is being shown again on Espnu at 10:30 if anyone is interested.

I hope you didn't take that to mean we are actually the 4th or 5th school on his list. It was probably random, as MCN stated.

First opportunity  to see Obekpa must admit was a little disappointed.

I haven't seen it. I know the replay is being shown at 1:30am on ESPNU. I doubt I'll be up to catch it.

How did he look? Usually, I don't take much from an all-star game, but again I didn't see it. What you didn't particularly like?

He didn't do much today, from what I saw very little scoring and rebounding. He did have 4 blocks though. Remember that this years center class is loaded so he was playing with/against 6 or 7 very good big men. Also its an all star game where guards and scorers strive. He is a defensive player so you couldn't of expected him to stand out too much.

I'd love to know what ppl expected of him in a game with teammates and opponents like is. Remember the 5 points 4 boards 2 block numbers I put up last week

Just a random blurb on UConn's take on Obekpa. I looked through the thread and didn't see this so if I missed and duplicated I apologize.

Recruits, such as Chris Obekpa of Long Island, could be told who they will be playing for long term: Calhoun now, Ollie later. The specter of tournament eligibility for 2013 is already affecting recruiting, and the Huskies have put a lot of effort into Obekpa.

Who is to say Obekpa isn't the backup plan?

Guards usually dominate these kind of games

Obekpa is a big that can block shots, rebound and get up and down the court. He is somewhat of a project like Louisville's Giorgi Dieng. Look at how much he progressed from Freshman to Sophomore seasons.
