Charles Minlend Jr.

Charles Minlend Sr. wasn't the best player ever but, he brought it every night in the old BE. He didn't take any crap that Donny Marshall of UCONN was dishing out either and I think they got tossed and suspended.

He should be regarded as a high quality ALUM and deserving of our respect.

I don't think there is a single legit redmen fan who disrespects Minlend. Class act through and through.
 
Is he Ivy League bound.? The story I head concerning his dad was the only way the old mann would allow his enrollment at SJU it was his enrolling in the School of Pharmacy

I don't believe his dad practices pharmacy. Maybe the kid would go pre-med. If I were him, I'd take an Ivy ride, which will get him much further in life than hoops.

The Ivies do not give athletic scholarships. All grants are need based.
 
Dad was a real warrior, I hope we get the kid, academics too, great!, I like a smart kid on the team especially if he is a player.

Charles Minlend is way, way up near the top of my list of all-time SJU favorite players. Easily in the top 5 and maybe in the top 3.

So something like: Mullin, Berry, Minlend, Jackson(s), Artest, Sealy, Zawoluk, Lopez (or Hatten?), Dove, McGuire ?

Never forget when I got to if I remember correctly the consolation game of the ECAC Holiday Festival game vs Duke late in the first half only to see Ed Kennedy on the court (instead of future NBAer Kevin Williams) and we are down 18 pts. Improbably came back to win that game when Duke was lead by Gene Banks and we upset them behind Gilroy, Plair, and Mckoy.

I was at that game. I believe Gilroy reverse tomahawked in that game. I was right behind the basket in the first or second row, and for the holiday festival duke students were right next to us on the floor. It was awesome beating them. Ron Plair! Rock solid player who rarely gets mentioned here.

Correct. Bill Bradley, whose father was a bank VP in Crystal City (?) Missouri paid his own way. If an ivy wants a kid they will figure out how to give him a combination of needs based assistance, grants, and academic scholarship.

I wouldnt say its a no brainer. You don't extend just because he's the son of a fmr player.

That being said Lavin wouldn't know Charles Mineland from Charlie Chaplin.

@RHoopsRecruits: #RHoops has expressed interest in 2015 Concord First Assembly (NC) SG Charles Minlend, according to @m_shockley. Dad was St. John's forward.
 
All big ifs, but if we got Diallo, a decent PG, and kept Obekpa, I'd give Minlend a look as a short SF.

But my dream is still a Diallo/Freeman/Obekpa front court.
