...Can we make the Tournament?

The 1 bracket that has us in hasn't updated since February, so we really are pretty far off the bracket right now. Might need 2 wins to make the NIT. We're fortunate to play Hall when they're ice cold.

Win the BET anf you have a mjmaherjr guarantee we make the tournament :)
while it'd be so awesome to win the BET and get in... I've for my entire life dreamed about seeing us win the BET in person in a packed MSG.

winning it this year in a quiet MSG would be bittersweet in a way. But like 7% bitter and 93% sweet because it'd still be awesome

I expect ratings to be down significantly this year. Most likely there will be a lot fewer office and school bracket challenges. It's also not nearly as fun watching without fans.

I think most people will say the same thing whenever they're eliminated this year. "Let's win it next year when we can see it in-person". That was my first thought when the Braves lost in the NLCS this year.

Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutely like to win the BET or an NCAA game, but if we don't it won't sting as badly as in prior years.

More than anything I want to end this season strong and to retain our roster into next season. Today was a good start to that.

Yea as a sports fan I'm so starved for one my teams to win a championship but I don't think I wanna win one during this Covid thing. It just doesn't hit the same way. Luckily it looks we are almost out of the woods and can get back to fans and the regular atmosphere we are used to. So you hear that Jets you have my permission to be good again ;)

Jerry Palm (updated March 04, 6:48am) lists 20 NCAA Tourney "bubble teams"  and our beloved St. John's is unfortunately not one of them.

these projections are infuriating and such BS.  How does a Michigan State team get in--with a NET ranking at 72  (higher than St. John's 69) and a sub-.500 conference record--and get projected as a #10 seed to boot?  And Rutgers projected as a #9 seed?

In my mind, around .500 teams in P6 conferences like Rutgers, Maryland, St. John's, Xavier, etc., are all on the bubble and it is too early to prognosticate who is in or out.  But the B10 is getting too much love in these projections.  That's why I try to ignore these prognosticators as much as possible.

One at a time. Bracketologies mean nothing. All are hypothetical if season ended today scenarios.

The thing about all this bracketology nonsense this year, is the "experts" have absolutely no clue how the committee is gonna handle the Covid stuff this year. Will they give the benefit of the doubt to teams who didn't play a lot of games?

let's just win a couple more games and see what happens

The committee doesn't want crappy games. If we win a few more in a row here, and they've watched a lot of our exciting wins and barely any of our miserable losses, anything can happen. It'll be a bummer if we play no one, but if it has to be the NIT, I won't complain. If it's the Big Dance, my neighbors will hear some screaming.

I think ratings will be thru the roof.  While I've mentioned I've barely watched NCAA this year besides SJU but being that so many people are still working remote and there is no more double screens or sneaking off for lunch.  I just hope there is no interruptions and craziness and its just fun basketball.

In terms of the actual bracket Adam I give you all the credit in the world for the permutations and such.  One thing I will say is I wonder if our last appearance might leave a sour taste in the committee's mouth.  Mullin's last year we likely didn't deserve a bid. We were the one team many scratched their head at.  And then we went out and laid an egg.  Obviously things change but with this committee you never know.

Moose that is certainly possible that ratings could go up. I was basing that mostly on other sport championship ratings being down this year, but I see your point about March Madness having a different format. I do feel a lot of people only watch March Madness for their brackets, so it'll be key to get people to participate this year. I think the hardcore college basketball fans will watch a lot this year, but I'm not so sure about the casual viewers.

Saturday's game against Seton Hall is the latest "biggest game of the year" for our beloved St. John's Red Storm.

Lets hope.

I think this is right.  Certainly puts them in the discussion.  Also matters who they beat.  Beating SHU and then beating either SHU or Xavier in the BE Tourney say on the way to the semi's then that could put them in as say the 4th team from the BE over Xavier and SHU.
