Let's see what happens before we all jump off the ledge. Most of us thought we would never get the kid in the first place when we first lost Briscoe but he surprised us. He might do so again once he sees who the new coach is.

And if we lose him, that's his choice and we can't blame him. But neither should we have kept Lavin because of one highly-rated recruit. This wasn't exactly a monster class. We had one impact signee and two complementary players. I'm glad we're in the mix for Diallo and some foreign players that none of us have a clue about, but in the mix doesn't mean signed. One thing we learned about Lavin these past three years -- he's not the closer he was made out to be.

We cut our losses with Lavin, which was smart given that the ceiling with him was low. Let's see who the new coach is and what he can do.

Guess you don't remember Anthony Glover, amongst others, who wound up honoring commitments in spite of coaching changes. More common than you would think.

Glover honored his commitment because of Ernie Lorch and the fact that he was a Prop 48.

IMHO he is exactly correct. You guys gotta chill out. Yes, we may lose some of Lavin's recruits. Then again, we may not. And the next coach may bring in some of his own, too.

At this point there's nothing to do but either break out your Kleenex (if you'll miss Lavin), pop a bottle of champagne (if you think we have been saved from more years of dreadful basketball), and pray for the administration to hire somebody you'll like.

Believe it or not, there's an excellent chance that they get this one right and end the long-running streak of coaching debacles.
