Hate to disappoint you but players choose schools based on the relationship they have with the coaching staff. Sampson is gone.

Guess you don't remember Anthony Glover, amongst others, who wound up honoring commitments in spite of coaching changes. More common than you would think.

Agreed on the first point, but said he is still considering us. Immediate playing time was the first thing he cited most interviews and he wouldn't be the first kid to remain with a program through a coaching change.

Of course, that all hinges on who the next coach is and how quickly they are hired. I have hard time believing Sampson wouldn't be ecstatic if a former guard like Archie Miller or Bobby Hurley took over.

Glover honored his commitment because of Ernie Lorch and the fact that he was a Prop 48.
 
Whether you liked Lavin or not, and i know it was split down the middle, the new coach deserves patience and given the right to do his job.

If we lose Sampson, so be it, it will not make or break us if he can bring in other recruits.

Lavin left the program's future extremely dire because his recruiting SUCKED and was on a downward spiral since 2011....the new coach deserves time and the backing of the entire fan base.

Not sure if you're disagreeing with me.

LSU was his #1. They shut the door. He had a relationship with Lav and wanted PT. He chose us.

The UA stuff is irrelevant. He just got named to the Nike Hoops team.

That's kind of different. AG committed the day after Fran was fired so he essentially committted to no coach, and of course his entire AAU team was already on the roster so there was that as well. Oh and he was local.

Every time one of you dopes mentions class I check to make sure I still have my wallet.

By "down" do you he is sad because he just cashed a check for two million dollars or do you mean something else?

No one - other than me and okay the Albano clan - is happier about Steve Lavin being terminated than Steve Lavin. He doesn't even have to pretend anymore.
 
Obviously people made this decision knowing they could risk losing Sampson. IMO he's gone, but some in there clearly aren't concerned, probably rightfully so in the long run

IMHO he is exactly correct. You guys gotta chill out. Yes, we may lose some of Lavin's recruits. Then again, we may not. And the next coach may bring in some of his own, too.

At this point there's nothing to do but either break out your Kleenex (if you'll miss Lavin), pop a bottle of champagne (if you think we have been saved from more years of dreadful basketball), and pray for the administration to hire somebody you'll like.

Believe it or not, there's an excellent chance that they get this one right and end the long-running streak of coaching debacles.
