Butler, Tue., Jan. 2, 8:30p, FS-1

That assessment is a little over the the top. He threw 2 beautiful moves - the first half reverse, and second half spin on the break.

Erving even as a collegian, could throw a game filled with a wide assortment of never seen before aerial power moves and acrobatics. Luis had a very uneven game, but i will say that he can do things that no one else on the court can. Athletically gifted but must be refined before the nba is a possibility.

Having said that he is the one guy you don't want to take your eyes off when he gets the ball because he can turn something amazing out of the ordinary.

I've been in the Brady fan club since season began. Exceot for making shots, everything else (hustle, hitting the deck, temperament) has been there from day one. Funny, Pitino gave him a gift to pad his stat line with 4 tech free throws. He missed 2 so badly, Pitino yanked him off the line. Still nice game for him.

Soriano has developed incredible patience with the ball in his hands, even in heavy traffic. He appears to wait as much as 5-6:seconds or more to find the space for a soft jumper or ferocious power move. His passing also underrated. Good bounce back game for him.

Really nice moments about 20 minutes or so post game. A few players hung out with their families in the bleachers for a long time. Zuby, Luis, Ledlum i recall. Nice moments to see these all great kuds just hanging with family. Zuby's entire family here from Texas and will go to nova and be back next week. In particular a great loving crew who i met in Charleston, and have already been to a bunch of his games.

Still plenty of empty seats upstairs for a big east home game. Shameful really but i see it like going to a reallybgood restaurant before itsca must go to place. While some fans wait for the team to be good enough, those who are coming are getting their moneys worth.

A win at Nova will change the season's outlook (at present). Big week ahead

Kid is a top 30 recruit from UNC I expect him to make an open shot. Ponds was about the same rank IIRC. Not asking for the moon, bro, just knock down an open shot once a game.
Refs don’t call it that closely anymore. I am looking at some college highlights on Sports Center and several are doing the same thing. They are not a worried about the rims and backboards breaking anymore and more concerned with guys releasing soon, falling and getting hurt.
We can get Jerome Lane in here to test that theory ..

That was Fox’s choice.so glad we didn’t because I think it is dumb when the pros do it (the Nets for KD is an example) and would have been the same here. He is not a legend or all time great. We get visits from other players who had better careers and actually finished their career here and rarely do it for them so why should we do it for someone who not only left but went to a conference rival? Save the applauds for someone like the active Army Officer who graduated from St. John‘s and was honored during the timeout. Him I applauded.

Posh got a nice round of applause when he was introduced, that was more than enough recognition. In the second half he was booed every time he touched the ball.

Litmus test Saturday on the road v talented, experienced Nova team that continues to play well together and defend. After some struggles, they have won three in a row and face Xavier tonight. The wild card for them is uncertainty of status of their star Justin Moore who has been injured and missed recent games.

Yes, no Jay Wright, but always respect Nova. A road win there will really put SJ on right path as they commence a challenging bunch of games in next several weeks. Playing smart v “always smart” Nova seems in order.

They have nearly identical offensive stats😂

Posh 44% from the field 21% from 3 with 10.7 pts 5.2 assists 4.5 rebounds

Jenkins 39% from field 24% from 3 with 12.1 pts 5.9 assists 4.2 rebounds
A few games ago I said that Jenkins' flaws were correctable and if he could play more under control, he could be a force. The last couple of games he has played much more under control and has been a force. Hopefully he just gets better and better as the seaon progresses.

He has the size, athleticism and skill sets to be an excellent basketball player. Having said that , I would like him taking a few less 3s per game. Preferably only when he's wide open and his feet are set.

Nova has been a bit schizophrenic this year, cycling between great wins and terrible losses. We should probably expect something more like the "great win" squad on Saturday, will be a real test and a great win if we can pull it off. Agree it will be interesting to see what they do at X and whether Moore is playing.

Terrific win. Lotsa good vibes.

Our rebounding will be very good this year. Ledlum very active, crashing the boards constantly, Soriano being Soriano, Luis an excellent leaper and Jenkins getting more than his share.

I felt CRP reigning in Luis on his wild assaults to the basket. Too much mustard. Trying for the And1 and missing the easier opportunity.

When Davis kept hitting 3s CRP switched to man and put Alleyne on him. Also no wild rushes upcourt with Alleyne because he seemed aware of time and situation.

With about 8 minutes left CRP allowed Jenkins and Soriano sit in spite of my loud screaming from the couch. Could only envision us blowing double lead. That had happened multiple times earlier in the game, but we kept coming back. All in all, GREAT.

Against the better teams in the conference, the guys have to avoid what is becoming a bad habit: getting ahead and for several possessions forgetting the team concept and hoisting up ill advised shots. Happens every game and happened yesterday. Team goes up 10, and RJ throws up a contested turnaround, followed by a Daniss air ball from 3 with plenty of time on the shot clock. I'm sure the coaching staff is on them, as both RJ and Jenkins were shown getting lectured by one of the assistants after their forces.

Reminds me of Scottie Pippen. He shows glimpses, but hasn’t put it all together.
If we had a healthy Luis from day one we would be in the top 20. The kid oozes potential. We haven’t had a forward like him in a long time. He reminds me of the “Amityville Horror” - Shelton Jones.

Also good to see Dunlop have his coming out party. Kid has a sweet stroke and plays his tail off on the court. Gotta love his game. He is going to be dangerous with another 20 lbs on him.

Here is the intangible potential i see in Brady. Don't mix examples as talent comparisons.

Jay Wright had guysnhe called coaches on the floor. Specifically said that about Arch amd Gillespie. Guys who knew what to do and more specifically what the coach wanted without Wright saying it.

Watch Brady away from action, at ft's or any breaks in action. He makes sure he is near the bench to receive instructions. He then returns to where he should be on the court. He is so coachable that he imstinctively makes sure he can hear as much as Rick has to say during the game.

Right now much of it has to do with Brady and not the team. Right now he is soaking up instruction.

Im going to bet he develops quickly into a team leader who is a coach on the floor, who can direct others to. The first step in leadership is knowing hierarchy and Brady knows he is a frosh on a team of 5th year players.

Coaches love kids like this who want to learn and bust it in practice to earn time on the court.

Of course he is a deadeye shooter. There will be days he shoots 1-8 and days he shoots 7-8. As long as everything else is in place - good shot selection, defense, scrapping for looseballs, active under rim, a 6'7 guard who isnt a plodder presents problems for opponents.

He will continuento grow as an asset and maybe blossom into a star here.
