Butler, Tue., Jan. 2, 8:30p, FS-1

Another real good win tonight. Terrific contributions across the board - balanced scoring, and Dunlap with a real nice night off the bench. They maintained control throughout against a solid opponent. Will now get real schedule wise - the next 8 games are brutal - at Villanova, Providence at home, @ Creighton, @ Seton Hall, Marquette, Villanova again, rematch at Xavier and the rematch with UConn. This stretch will define the season. They better get the free throw issues ironed out, or it could cost them one of these games.

First...outstanding team win. I hate to be a downer...but early on, Luis looks like this year's Curbelo. Sorry. My prediction is he'll have fewer assists over his career than Zendon Hamilton.
I actually think passing and drawing fouls will be where he shines. He was very controlled in his UMass highlights. He’s rushing it early here.

He did start to look a lot like Jenkins in the second half. But it’s crazy to see a 6’8/6’9 kid doing what he’s doing.

Watching the first half that I missed. Looks like we never trailed. It also looks like we had a solid effort from beginning to end, especially defensively. This is a good sign. I think that Rick is getting defense into these guys heads and showing them that defense wins games.

Free throw shooting needs to be better.
A little regression to the mean, I think. We've been around 70 percent all year, then went 25-31 vs Hofstra. A fallback was probably inevitable.

I'm also going to forgive the misses on the T's, because I truly believe that most of these guys hate shooting at the line all by themselves. Give them a choice, and I think they would have players line up for the heck of it.

RJ on the other end

I 100% believe this was scripted by Pitino as is the latest UConn to CA next season talk. He wants to build this brand and rivalries and I hope it works! I’m not part of the crowd that needs convincing.

I think the Butler forwards lack of speed was a favorable matchup for Brady, but if he’s going to shoot anything like this what does Dingle offer over him? Serious question.

You can hide him in the zone easier than Dingle and get Alleyne in there for better defense at the 2.

It has to be higher than 80% to be a tournament team. Period!
Just to be clear there are 2 teams in all of college basketball shooting 80% on FTs, and one is Stetson. St John's visits the other this weekend. Last year there was 1, also Nova. Tonight's display was putrid but getting to 75% would put St John's in the top 50. Realistic goals.
