Butler, Sat., Jan. 4 , 2p, FS-1

I think the biggest culprit as of late has been Wilcher. In the PC game he shot 1-10. In the Creighton game, he not only shot poorly, his entire game was a wreck, lost his cool, missed open lay ups etc. And when you consider the amount of time he had on the court, it was a disaster. Yet Pitino kept him in which seems to support my theory of lack of depth, even Pitino realizes that.
as much as many do not wish to admit it, there is a dramatic drop off right now after zuby-rj-smith-kadary. frankly, it's tough even putting Kadary there but I will for the moment.

I have an overtly Positive outlook on Life (happens when you keep Jesus #1 - highly recommend it)- and St John's basketball...

Now having said that... after that Creighton loss... having a bit of a tough time getting excited for this game.

I was "ok/liked" saying - we had 2 losses by 4 points , we should be a top 15 team, etc etc... but the combo of us putting up another putrid Offensive performance coupled with Providence getting WAXED by Marq.... for the first time this season, my expectations are tempered a bit...

I think one of our resident "downers/realists", however they identify, said it- they have to win @X / Marq / UConn... for me to start getting excited again.

Correct me if im wrong, but just to get in the tourney, I believe we need to split w/ uconn, marquette, xavier and beat creighton.

That is not going to be easy.
What was ever easy for an SJU fan? This is a dangerous SJU team to bet on as nothing is a sure win not even Butler. Our shooting is horrendous.

Expecting a low double digit win, followed by some posters castigating fans who they think panicked after Creighton loss. Then that is turned inside out if we lose the opportunity game at Xavier on Tuesday. 🤷‍♂️
Agree..Double digit win is bare minimum to lessen concerns going into road game at X.

Thoughts?

The only major difference I witnessed is the ball was in his hands more at Seton Hall and I feel he’s put on about eight or ten pounds that he needs to lose,” Pitino said.

He needs to be 205 , not 212 214 .

My thoughts are that it is completely absurd, given the NIL investment in Kadary, that there wasn’t an offseason (or in season for that matter) regime and training program to ensure he didn’t make it to Big East play overweight. Amateur hour yet again on Union and Utopia

Also didn’t need to watch 3 games of film to know the ball was in his hands way more at SHU than it has been here. 30 seconds on KenPom could have cracked that one

Didn't catch that second comment on RJ also being considered overweight. That seems bizarre...but if true it's almost negligence that out S&C coach is not monitoring and reporting back to staff with action plan agreed to by staff & player..

It was clear Kadary was carrying too much weight and seemingly out of shape from the get go. For the $ he got, one would expect him to come in prime shape ready to roll. He did not, but was designated one of the team captains lol.

Not sure about RJ having weight problem too, Perhaps it is “Rick speak”. I agree he does not appear so, but who knows.

If both players are indeed out of shape, has the strength & conditioning coach been in Guam for the last several months?😎
