Once states started to open things up, people became complacent, thought everything was OK and no longer felt the need to wear a mask. Those states that opened up early are seeing a spike in the number of positive tests. I just left Florida, where in my humble opinion, they opened too many things way too quickly and are now paying the price. Many people have criticized Gov. Cuomo for not opening things quicker but that data shows that NY is in a much better place right now than Florida or many of the other states that have loosened up things much quicker.

While I have not always been a fan of Gov. Cuomo, he has done an excellent job of keeping a level head in managing the state through the pandemic IMO.
Level head? LMAO. He sent everyone into a panic over ventilators he never needed. He wasted millions of taxpayer dollars getting a hospital ship and the Javits center conversion Which were left empty while he sent Covid patients to nursing homes. Then when the one thing that could have stopped the spread a quarantine of NY was proposed he threatened war. I won’t get into all the looting and rioting by people out on the streets due to bail reform. cuomo is an unmitigated disaster. Level head? Lol

Remember, experts had forecast a range of possible impact that was contingent upon citizen's compliance with the shutdown. Despite tens of thousands dead in New York, we escaped on the lower end of those forecasts. I appreciate that Cuomo was focused on minimizing mortality and simultaneously preparing for the worst. That's good leadership. I am sure he is happy to field the criticism given the dark alternative.

NY State has over 411k cases and over 31K deaths. The only COUNTRY(not including the USA) that has both more cases and more deaths then NY State is Brazil. And Brazil has over 200 million people. A recent article in the WSJ, one of the last few reliable and unbiased news sources, outlined the numerous errors made by Cuomo, which caused the number of cases and deaths to skyrocket. Yet plenty of people still make excuses for him, and many actually praise him for how he's handled things. I don't get it, and I never will.

Did anyone ever think that we were targeted by ChiComms?

In Florida, the only score that matters is the number of new Covid 19 cases a day. Another 1 day record. Texas and Arizona also fighting for the championship of stupidity. You can't find 3 hotter states, so if this virus survives the scorching heat, it's going to thrive in the fall and winter. Trying to plan a sports season for next week is difficult. Forget about months from now.

Pandemic financial reverberations. UA was flailing financially before COVID. This is concerning for many reasons, including UCLA’s current financial mess.
Even under good circumstances it was a crappy deal. If you are going to create a record setting deal way better options than UCLA. But I suspect it was a swipe at Nike/Oregon.

If anyone can write a book on poor management it would be Under Armour. Amazing how a company with so much potential was derailed

This is why I think College sports isn't happening this year. Too much risk for colleges from lawsuits from student athletes, and it just takes one or two members of a conference to decide its not worth it and the season is over.

Pro sports might be able to pull it off, especially football since its one game a week, but its not going to be easy.

I thought that part of one of the stimulus plans to come would indemnify businesses from such lawsuits.

I think that only applies to employees.

Just saw where the Superintendent of the Dallas School system said there would probably be no high school football in Texas this year.

If the season is cancelled, I wonder how that would impact the kids' eligibility? For the kids who were planning on being one and done, will this still count as their one even though they didn't play and may not even attend school? Do other kids get another year of eligibility if they don't play this year? How will that impact rosters since many of those kids who would have graduated in 2021, will be around for an extra year? So many questions, so few answers.

If a sport isn't played, eligibility will be extended. I think they did that for spring sports this year.
