Goes to show you, one lousy inning can beat ya.

I was looking at the 98 schedule,
After 45 games they were 45-10, we'll have to win the next 10 just to match that.
Then 46-13 after 59 games, we'd have to go 25-3 just to match that. lol
65-20. lol. Those teams don't come around to often.

The comparisons to 1998 were being made. because that team also started 1-4. They also had a 28 game stretch from late August until about mid September (a couple of doubleheaders included) in which they went 12-16. In between, they just won games at an alarming rate. They'd win 8 or 9 in a row, drop 1 or 2, then start the next winning streak again.

To ask any team to win at that pace is just too much, IMO. The 98 team also had way better starting pitching then this group.

After 45 games they were 35-10, we'll have to win the next 14 just to match that.
 
Why chase that record?
Just win the World Series like we're meant to.
 
Frustrating night. A bit alarming is all the strikeouts this team is accruing. Ellsbury had a night.
 
Per the Elias Sports Bureau: Thursday marks the first time that the Yankees had the tying run thrown out at home plate to end a game since Aug. 12, 1987, when Wayne Tolleson was thrown out at home trying to score on a double by Roberto Kelly. The Royals defeated the Yankees, 2-1.

What an ending for the Astros! Jake Marisnick, one of the more underrated defensive outfielders in the game, throws out Jacoby Ellsbury at home plate for the final out of a 3-2 victory. Dallas Keuchel was tough once again, allowing only an unearned run in six innings. Three more rounds to go in this early showdown for AL supremacy.
 
Yankee record-
The 1932 New York Yankees are the only team to go an entire season without being shut out.
They also hold the Major League record for most consecutive games without being shut out: 308 games. The Yankees went from August 3, 1931 to August 2, 1933 (almost 2 years) without being shut out.
 
SATURDAY 'S Game POSTPONED.

The Yankees have announced that Saturday's Astros-Yankees game is postponed due to continued forecast of inclement weather. It is rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Sunday.
 
the bombers were blasting - 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs.

earlier in season ellsbury 100 points ahead of gardner in batting average. now only 1 point separates them.

severino returned to 2016. 10 men on base, 7 outs recorded.

judge another step to mini season al mvp; future yankee captain?

By and large, the starters have not been the same since Sanchez returned to catcher.

Romine seemed to have a good relationship with the staff, and right now, it seems as though Sanchez lacks that. Could be a problem going forward.

I don't see the correlation. Too short a sample.
 
Lucky the Orioles have slumped the same time we have. Offense on Sunday was ridiculous even in the loss. Down 9-0 and the tying run came to the plate in the 9th. They never don't have a shot.
