Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

imvho the home plate ump shrunk the strike zone. especially for severino in the first 3 innings & later for warren.
because of the small strike zone severino's pitch count forced him out in the 6th. he could/should have given the yanks 2 more innings.
rays scored 3 runs on infield grounders that saw the holes.
rays did have a barrage of doubles.
i'm going to today's game.

Plus, Shreve should've had a strikeout on Weeks. Second to last pitch of the AB was right over the heart of the plate, but ump called it inside. Even Weeks was surprised he was still up there.

girardi got so excited over the wilson decision, he went to home plate to tell the uconn fan ump about the wilson pickup.

What's going on with Tanaka? 15 runs in just over 4 innings total his last 2 games.

Lots of K's
NYY batters whiffed 17 times.
TBR K'd 11 times.

That catch that Judge made on Longoria in the 6th inning, was one of the best I've ever seen. Remember, as a right-handed thrower, he had turn the glove away from him, making it even harder.

I don't care that he struck out 4 times today. Judge was the hero of the game, for making that play.

odds & sods -
went to saturday's yankee loss.
so happy when i found out tanaka was going to start saturday's game.
tanaka is the only yankee starter i feel confident in.
2 straight brutal tanaka outings.
yanks should make playoffs, but which staring pitcher will have 2 good outings in a series?
but the al east is brutal. even toronto, who has won 8 of last 14.
the al east teams could be slaying each other & the wild cards come from elsewhere.

For the second time in five weeks, the Yankees won despite striking out at least 17 times in a nine-inning game. No other team has multiple such wins in a single season since 1900. Sunday also marked the first time in Yankees history that multiple players (Matt Holliday and Aaron Judge) had at least four K's each in a nine-inning game (Elias Sports Bureau).

judge - golden sombrero and spectacular catch to start double play in one run win.

To make it even sweeter, he caught it off the bat of Longoria the yankee killer. It would have tied the game.
Sorry Evan, but not that time.

yanks beat run starved kc. pineda pitches into 7th. any yankee starter pitching in the 7th is a baseball blessing.
3 ballentine blasts. including one from carter.

if you had baltimore plus 6 runs, you lost. o's had early 5 run lead.

ouch. what a turn around.
going into 7th, monte has a one single shutout.
then 4 yank pitchers each give up a homer to run poor kc.
carter again homered. maybe 2016 was not a fluke for him. balt lost.

Yankees bullpen imploded tonight and starting to show some warts, especially Warren. On to tomorrow.
