Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

bravo all rise.
sir didi is the one yankee batter i want to see up, when game is on the line. bravo sir didi.
i wish for the old days when chapman would come into the game in 9th inning & my heart goes wacko.
good call by girard(i) having ellsbury lead off.
*Aaron Judge's mammoth home run was his 37th of the season. That ties Albert Pujols (2001 Cardinals) for 3rd-most by a rookie in a season. Judge trails Mark McGwire (49, 1987 Athletics) and Frank Robinson (38, 1956 Reds).

Hopefully, Chapman will benefit from a few days off. Robertson should close in the meantime. Didi has been great this season. Torreyes a happy surprise. I don't know if this version of the Yankees is strong enough to beat out the Badsox. Still need Castro's bat to add some pop.
We'll see.

last year i thought the redsucks would go far in the post season.
they survived the tough American league east that had the 2 wild card teams plus the above 500 yankees.
then the redsucks get swept.
having a healthy castro will greatly help the post season yankees, plus bird, cc, tanaka, chapman.

Have to admit, that although I'm not really a big Castro fan, even with Torreayas playing well, the Yanks do need Castro back in the line-up. Seems to help balance it out better.

I doubt Bird can contribute this season.

Castro, when healthy, can play some ball.
I like Torreyes in the lineup. Maybe at third, when Castro returns.

Chapman could come back at Detroit next week.

Sweeping the Mets is all great and all, but it doesn't mean a thing to me if we can't take atleast 2 of 3 at Fenway.

On a sidenote: Why does Girardi wait to long to take Mitchell out? I seen Granderson on deck, I'm saying to myself if this guy gets on, then Girardi better pull Mitchell, he can't face Granderson.
So Girardi leaves Mitchell in, and on the first pitch hit a Grand Slam.
You gotta be kidding me with that.

Maybe he was waiting for a save situation (tying run on deck). You know how these players are concerned with their stats above winning.

My opinion of Girardi lessens with every game. I really don't understand many of his moves, and even non-moves. He is really tough to take a liking to.

You are hoping with a five run lead Mitchell can get three outs without you having to use your top relievers so they are fully rested for Boston. If he doesn't and gives up a grand slam (which he did) Betances comes in and you still have a two run lead.

You know you are not going to get length from Montgomery and Sabathia (5 and fly as he is not going to let them stay in to face a lineup the third 5ime around the order) this weekend even if they are pitching well, so a fully rested bullpen would be great. Betances wound up throwing 11 pitches.

I am not a fan of Giraldi. One of my criticism is he gets his top relievers (his "circle of trust") up too often even with a decent size lead. If Betrances had been brought in earlier I would have been fuming even though Mitchell wound up giving up the grand slam.

With the 13 man pitching staff we have been using, the 13th man doesn't pitch often and when he does his location is usually off. And this is what you get sometimes. Mitchell's last time out he did really well.

On to Boston!!!!

how sweep it is.
bravo sanchez - a healthy, all season long sanchez might have had boston chasing the pinstripes.
bravo severino - comeback pitcher of year - yankee starter in wild card playoff game.
dear mitchell, i did not mean for you to take chapman's place & give me the 9th inning shakes.

Let's take some time to enjoy winning 4 in a row. Let's stretch the streak to 7.
Beat Boston!

boo. it was a game they could/should have won.
back to back innings leaving bases loaded.
yanks left 14 on base & were 1 for 11 in risp.
first time in a long time when 2 bullpenners failed. 3 failed in this game.
can sanchez carry this team on his back?
which is the real hicks? the april player or the current one?
chapman is he hurt? less than average?
kimbrel is just lights out when he sees pinstripes.
*Red Sox 9, Yankees 6: If the Red Sox wind up defending their AL East title, the Yankees will look back on this as the night it slipped away. Staked to a 6-3 lead in the seventh inning, New York's bullpen imploded. Boston scored four runs in the seventh, taking the lead on Mitch Moreland's two-run pinch single, and two more in the eighth against embattled Aroldis Chapman. And with Chris Sale scheduled to start Saturday night, the Red Sox's lead in the division is five games.

Terrible loss, No way to sugarcoat it. Can't fight back and take a lead in the seventh and then give it right back.
That's three big games they have blown to Boston.

Reported-Yankees remove Chapman from closer role.

finally a close win over boston.
the bottom of the order supplied the ballantine blasts.
betances the closer.
*Yankees 4, Red Sox 3: So much for Chris Sale being a Yankee slayer. One night after a crushing loss, the Yanks stared down the Red Sox ace and beat him. Tyler Austin and Todd Frazier homered, CC Sabathia came off the disabled list to toss six solid innings, and New York's bullpen held on for the win. The Red Sox put the tying run on base in the ninth inning, but it was erased when pinch-runner Brock Holt was caught stealing second.
