Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

if frazier makes it a double play instead of not being able to get the ball cleanly out of his glove, the inning becomes scoreless, instead 5 runs scored. severino is less taxed. game would have been a pickum.
*MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Wanna be startin' somethin': Severino retired the first seven batters before Christian Vazquez worked a nine-pitch walk, a battle that started the unraveling of the Yanks' ace. Another walk to Jackie Bradley Jr. followed and third baseman Todd Frazier booted a potential double-play ball, loading the bases. Mookie Betts cashed a two-run single and Benintendi launched a projected 371-foot blast to right for his 15th homer, coming off the bat at 106.3 mph, according to Statcast™.

Been in Wyoming sans wifi
Nice to see Yanks won
Last night
Here's a thought that came to me in the Grand Tetons - an obvious one:
DO NOT PITCH TANAKA during the day or on regular rest - begs for a loss
all the best :)

Yanks just put Tanaka on the 10 day DL

Good thing Cashman went out and got two starters at the deadline. We need those guys right now (Garcia did a good job keeping us in the game last night, IMO).

Absolutely SJU62982
Credit is due for last and this years decisions on personnel
And I for one still look at this year as " playing w house money"
So much good has happened and we still might make the playoffs
:)

I'll keep this short and sweet.

Demote Chapman, and let Robertson close. I just can't trust him right now.

Give Devers props, he got around on a 103mph fastball, htf do you do that? Atleast that's what Waldman was saying the pitch was, but the in the 10th after striking out Bradley, on an 0-2 pitch hits Nunez then walks Betts. He's to much of a reliability. Atleast Robertson has control, that's what I want in my closer, you know when he has to, he'll throw a freaking strike. You can't rely on Chapman to.

Sterling is the worst, in the 1st inning here's his call on Judges foul ball:
"It is high, it is far, it is gone........but foul.

I really can't stand that guy, how much is he getting paid??? I'm a die hard yankee fan but the mets radio guys are 5times better.
Can't the Yanks pay alittle more money for decent announces?

On to the Mets, Yanks need 3 of 4 in these 4 games,. The mets would love a split here, but a split vs. a bad met team hurts us.
Then at Fenway, Yanks gotta sweep. These 6 games vs. them began with us 4 1/2 so you gotta think they'd take a split, though they want to put us away.

If we don't win 3 of 4 vs. a bad met team, then I'll say it right now.
Yanks won't win the division.

old school stole my thunder.
the homer was on an 0 & 2 pitch. 2nd time this year any player hit opposite field homer on 100+ pitch from any pitcher.
first time in forever a lefty took chapman yard.
the winning run got on base by being hit on 0 & 2 count. tough, tough loss.
bravo to non chapman yankee pitchers.

*Red Sox 3, Yankees 2: The Baby BoSox beat the Baby Bombers. Rafael Devers and Andrew Benintendi -- the youngest players in the Red Sox's lineup -- picked up the biggest hits in a 10-inning win. Devers turned around a 102.8 mph fastball from Aroldis Chapman and tied the game with a ninth-inning solo homer. In the 10th, Benintendi singled in the go-ahead run. Chris Sale went seven innings and piled up 12 strikeouts, his 16th double-digit strikeout game. Boston won two of three games and leads the AL East by 5 1/2 games over New York.
*The Yankees lost 3-2 in 10 innings to the Red Sox on Sunday, falling 5.5 games back of the AL East lead. Judge struck out in his 30th straight game, registering his 11th game of the season with 3 or more strikeouts. He joins Curtis Granderson (13 in 2012), Danny Tartabull (12 in 1993) and Jesse Barfield (12 in 1990) as the only Yankees in the Live Ball era (since 1920) to strike out 3 or more times in 11 different games within a single season.

You can't take Sterling seriously. Just enjoy his nonsense for what it is. As for the Mets, Josh Lewin is really bad. Howie is great though.

Joe please let Robertson pitch the 9th, Chapman has to be a no go.

TY TY TY please dont pitch him till they go to Detroit.

Gotta get 2 of the 3 vs the mets still.

Boston lost so down to 4 1/2, should be 2 1/2 but oh well.

well girard(i) listened to old school & used robertson & betances and not chapman.
both teams tried to get away with below average starters. both did a little below average.
bravo hicks - comeback offensive player of year.
*The Yankees hit 3 home runs tonight (Aaron Judge, Gary Sánchez, Aaron Hicks) and all three were their 40th career home runs. Sánchez and Judge became the 3rd and 4th-fastest players in MLB history by games to reach the milestone.
*Aaron Hicks crushes a 1-1 meatball from Hansel Robles deep to right field to give the Yankees the lead in the eighth inning. Remember, Hicks had an OPS over .900 when he was injured in June. This is his second homer in five games since coming off the DL and he could add some much-needed offense to the Yankee lineup.
*Aaron Judge, who coming into today was batting .165 with 46 strikeouts since the All-Star break, hits his 36th home run of the season and first one since August 6th off Rafael Montero to tie the game 2-2 in the 6th inning. In his first 84 games of the 2017 season, Judge had a .329 batting AVG with 30 home runs and a 1.139 OPS.
*The secret weapon in the Yankees bullpen is Chad Green, who really has been better than Dellin Betances or Aroldis Chapman. He tosses 2.2 scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 1.95. Green's key is a high spin rate that gives him the illusion of a rising fastball. Batters swing through the pitch, a reason he's generated 74 K's in 50.2 innings.

and oldschool "awards" chapman with a save. chapman gives me agita.
*Chapman's choppy ninth: After serving up Rosario's homer, Chapman squatted at the front of the mound, seemingly in disbelief, and did not move until Sanchez patted him on the back with his glove. It's only the second time in Chapman's career that he's allowed homers in consecutive games, and the first time since 2012. He induced groundouts from Travis d'Arnaud and Juan Lagares to close out the win, but appeared to grimace as he left the mound and acknowledged some tightness in his hamstring.
"It has been a difficult year for me and for my expectations," Chapman said through an interpreter. "I'm going through a rough patch here, but you've got to keep fighting. You've got to keep trying to go out there and do the job."

Well thank god for that run in the bottom of the 8th huh? Chapman scares the crap out of me.
He might be injured, we'll see what Girardi says at the pressconference.

Boston won so we needed this game.

No on to Queens, need atleast a split there.

Admitted to hamstring tightness.

Undergoing "tests". Robertson is designated closer tonight.

Happy that we'll win atleast 3 of the 4 vs. the Mets, but then put on mlbn and seen Boston get 3 in the 9th to win. Got me sick to my stomach.

Ok, so we got the 1st 3 games. No reason we shouldn't sweep with Severino on the mound tomorrow night. Oh, I forgot, nothing comes easy to this team. Absolutely need to get the sweep here.
