Today's papers on As and Yanks playing chicken in re Sonny Gray.
I would NOT bid too high because of Gray's injury issues.
He is not worth enriching the pot by too much - there's talk of giving Estevan Florian, Jorge Mateo and/or Domingo Acevedo - I would give ONE of the three and a lesser prospect.

Sonny Gray might not have the endurance we need in a starting pitcher.

bravo didi, monte, & most of the pen.
base running & bunting are a lost major league art.
will yesterday's all rise box score be his sop? walks, strike outs, & either an rbi or run scored.
my favorite non yankee - joey votto - was held hitless.

Totally agree. I too am concerned about his health. But knowing the Yankees, they will over pay.

Pass on Gray. Bring up a kid.

I have not been following them ,they are not on TV much in FL. Why
wasn't Judge playing

Judge given day off. Girardi likes to give all players a day of rest every so often. I think it goes back to his playing days.

He was also a little banged up, from going into the wall in the 8th inning Tuesday night.

USG
Interesting Aaron Judge has "only" 32 homers and 83 RBIs and is "down" to .310 BA
If anyone offered us those statistics pre-season we likely would have been thrilled.
I would be pleased - barring any injury - with 40-45/100+/.300+
:cheer:

On the East Coast in West Palm. They were on MLB last night. All Tampa games are on the tube as well as the other stations (TBS, ESPN, Fox 1, etc) and they are on the radio here.. Have to put up with Sterling and Waldman put it is the same if back home.

Nice comeback win tonight. Would have been a tough loss, especially with the inning where we left the bases loaded. Wade looks terribly overmatched.

great july win over an al east contender, a wild card contender; one run game.
bravo to gardner. triple, hr.
chapman was lights out in 2 innings.
live by sword, die... you know the rest. rays bringing in the infield temporarily saves the game, rays over shifting the infield leads to tying game in the 9th via kornfusion.
girard(i) can be second guessed for taking out cc, for allowing wade to bat in the 8th & 10th innings with runners in scoring position. wade was waving good bye at those low/inside/outside pitches. terrible at bats.
home plate ump was terrible. gardner should have had ball 4. dickerson should have been struck out on 1 & 2 count. next pitch was a getty goner. i can see why girard(i) threw himself on the throw me out umpire's right arm.
great game - many highs & many lows. torture/joy for fans.
*The Yankees have now won 5 games this season in which they trailed after 8 innings, tied for most in the AL (Rays). The Rays have lost 32 games this season in which they led, most in the AL.
*Aaron Judge may have lost a tooth in the post-game celebration, but he extended his home hit streak to 16 games, matching Hideki Matsui's franchise rookie record. However, he dropped to 3-35 this season against 2017 All-Star pitchers (.086). He's hitting .333 vs non-All-Stars.

On the Sanchez single in the 9th, what the heck was the second basemen thinking when it look like he took a half step towards he ball but instead went the other way towards second? The only runner on base was Gardner at third. Did he assume it was a hit?

Only explanation would be he thought there was a runner on first and he thought SS would field ball and he would cover 2nd base for a force out.
