Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

Tanaka should be bypassed on Sunday. They need to get him straightened out, offline.
I don't see Yanks going the full season without a solid starter in his slot.

Price vs. Pineda in the series finale tonight.
Go Yanks!

very impressive win over al east rival/contender.
pineda - great game. comeback pitcher of year.
castro/all rise/yankee lineup - continuing their mvp seasons.
garner's long lost power seems to be back.
sanchez perhaps back to his incredible 2016 mini season power.
didi continuing to be hot with the bat.
*Yankees 9, Red Sox 1: That won't do much to brighten David Price's mood. One night after his postgame tirade against multiple reporters, Price got lit up for six runs on eight hits and four walks in the rubber game of a three-game series. Gary Sanchez homered twice and drove in five runs for the Yankees. The Red Sox scored on a passed ball, their lone run in the last 22 innings.
*The Yankees took two-of-three from the Red Sox to extend their lead to three games over Boston. In the 9-1 win, Gary Sanchez hit two home runs, while Michael Pineda threw seven innings, allowing one unearned run. Aaron Judge went 3-for-4, boosting his average to .330.
*Gary Sánchez is 4-for-7 in his career against David Price ... all 4 hits are HR.

I'd really love to sweep the O's. That would put them 6 1/2 back, maybe Detroit could win one at Fenway and put Boston 4 back heading to the west coast

I'd like getting some seperation from the rest in the east.

Yankee pitching has allow the fewest runs (232) in the AL. Houston is second (239).

Hicks with 2 blasts, and had a nice back handed catch.

last 3 game for the starters:
CC: 8innings of shutout ball
Pineda: 7innings of 0ERs
Monty: 1 bad pitch for a 2run HR, 2 runs in 7 innings
Sev gotta continue it.

Guessing Green starts Sunday, hopfully goes atleast 5, then to the pen

Torres hit another HR for the Triple A club. Chance Adams is kicking ass for the Triple A club 2.17 ERA.
Both might come up after the AS break, maybe August

Thank god Tanaka is pitching monday, if he must pitch then ok, but please not vs the AL East until he gets his shit together

3 steps forward, one step back
i always thought bunting was the weakest baseball art with base running a close second.
please when on second, do not go to third when ball hit in front of you. twice recently.
happy that joe g has them running more than past seasons.
bravo on beating al east contender. yanks beat a good starting pitcher.
monte looking better & better.
hicks has sealed the half season comeback poy.
seems yanks either win big or lose close one. plus 91 in run differential.
*Yankees manager Joe Girardi just basically admitted that when Jacoby Ellsbury returns, Aaron Hicks will remain the regular CF.
*The Yankees crushed the Orioles, 8-2. Aaron Hicks slammed two homers and drove in three runs. Jordan Montgomery (4-4, 3.55) threw seven innings of two-run ball. Aaron Judge went 0-for-4.
*Potential All-Star Aaron Hicks does it again, hitting his second home of the game, a two-run shot. It is now 5-2 Yankees over the Orioles in the seventh. It is Hicks' 10th homer of the season. When the injured Jacoby Ellsbury returns, it is pretty safe to assume he will be the fourth outfielder. Hicks has 10 homers.
*From fourth outfielder to potential All-Star, Aaron Hicks just hit a go-ahead solo shot. It was his ninth of the season. Hicks had eight all of last year. It is 3-2, Yankees over Orioles, in the sixth.Yankees second baseman Starlin Castro continues to prove his surprising power from last year was legit. Castro homered off Dylan Bundy and all of his 10 blasts this season have come off right-handed pitching. While Castro's BABIP is a bit high he's also shown a higher baseline in his career. This could be a .300 hitter with 25 homers at second base! How valuable!
*he Yankees are pushing back the next start of struggling ace Masahiro Tanaka from Sunday to Monday. The move will allow Tanaka to miss the hard hitting Baltimore Orioles in the Bronx and instead face the light hitting Los Angeles Angels on Monday in Anaheim. Tanaka is 5-6 with a 6.55 ERA.

OSR
We are fortunate to be Yankee fans this season as I trust we will be as Red Storm fans
2017 unfolding quite nicely!
:)

Starting Green and hoping he goes five on Sunday will then tax the bullpen with Tanaka going the next day. Wish they would call a starter up and stop with patchwork solution

The solution w Tanaka is obvious - check his record - he needs an extra day in between pitching!
Somehow I hope Giradi can figure this out
But nice season for sure!

Saturday, 7:15pm Game time

Probable Pitchers -
Baltimore- Chris Tillman (1 - 3, 5.59)
Yanks- Luis Severino (4 - 2, 2.90)

If you want someone called up, we got 2 options, if we dont start Green

Bryan Mitchell - He's got plenty of big-league experience and he's slated to start Saturday for Triple-A. The Yankees could hold him back to keep him ready to pitch on an extra day's rest on Sunday.

Then there are a pair of longer shots. Domingo German, a 24-year-old righty, has pitched well at Triple-A and is on the 40-man roster. And Yefrey Ramirez has done the same at Double-A. He's on the 40-man roster, too, but, yeah, we're just thinking outside the box.

Since his May 13 promotion to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he's been just as good. In five starts, Adams has gone 3-2 with a 2.17 ERA (I'd like to see him get 10 more starts at Triple-A, before coming up. Maybe the first week of Aug, don't want no rush job with him.).

Source: Yankees to call up Domingo German to start Sunday.

NEW YORK -- Yankees pitching prospect Domingo German is expected make Sunday's start in place of Masahiro Tanaka, a source told NJ Advance Media.

The source requested anonymity because it wasn't authorized to discuss the move.

*Chris Tillman allowed a career-high 9 ER in 1 1/3 IP today. Tillman's career ERA at Yankee Stadium rose from 6.34 to 7.94 after this start. It's now his highest at any park where he's pitched more than once. The only other Orioles pitcher in the last 100 years to allow at least 9 runs in 1 1/3 innings or fewer was Kurt Ainsworth in 2004.
*so i am watching the yankee slaughter, I decide to see how didi compares to the captain derek. of course didi is not a first ballot HOF. right now didi's batting average for 2017 is 322 & his slugging % is 473. #2 beat 322 six times. #2 beat 473 five times. in those years that #2 beat didi in those catagories, #2 finished either 1,3,6, or 10 in al mvp voting. so while i have been praising all rise, hicks, castro, the lineup, monte, etc, i have been neglecting didi who arguably is having a top 10 mvp year. the yankee lineup is that awesome.

Ball AJ hit for his 19th HR had to be one of the hardest hit ball's I've ever seen and that encompasses 60 years. Of course that is from the age of 2 from my play-pen so i'm really not that ancient (well to some of you anyway).
