Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

how bad is tanaka?
The Braves have Bartolo Colón bobblehead day on June 9 when they host the Mets...his ERA is currently 7.78, nearly a run and a half worse than any other qualified starter in the majors (Masahiro Tanaka: 6.34).
*Masahiro Tanaka Fastball This Season
BA .386
SLG pct .795 (Last in MLB)
OPS 1.258 (Last)
>>Among 158 pitchers with 300 fastballs

Clearly, in my mind, he's nursing an injury.

I would tend to agree, but he has somehow managed to have a few gems mixed in among the really bad starts.

But I'm pretty sure his velocity has not had a drop from what I last recall hearing.

I wonder if Tanaka opts out of his contract this year, or does not, and has surgery in the offseason and misses next year.

Aaron Judge AL leading All-Star vote-getter.

Tanaka seriously needs to skip his next start, 3 more HRs.
and wtf was Carter doing, 1st and 2nd with 2 outs, and this idiot on a 3-2 pitch swings at a pitch up and in???
Would have loaded the bases.

Besides Tanaka' s poor outing (again), inability to drive in runs from 3rd with less than 2 outs doomed them tonight. Headley is killing them. How soon before we see Torres? Things are starting to go tbe wrong way for this team.

Red Sox 5, Yankees 4: Craig Kimbrel struck out the side, including Aaron Judge, in another dominant four-out (five-strikeout) save to lead the Red Sox to a series-opening victory. Mitch Moreland, Hanley Ramirez and Andrew Benintendi went deep for the Sox, who inched to within one game of the Yanks in the AL East.
*The Yankees are at the point where they are going to need to figure out what they are going to do with Masahiro Tanaka. They can't just keep running him out there, not like this. After giving up another three homers and five runs in five innings, his ERA has ballooned to 6.55. Tanaka and the Yankees have said he is not hurt.
*another tough loss. had more total bases than the sox. risp - ouch.
carter - the latest whipping boy - feast or famine with him.
*Most HR Allowed in MLB Since May 1
Masahiro Tanaka 14
Bronson Arroyo 13

Kimbrel impressive.
Is is just me, or has the strike zone become bigger this year?

bravo cc.
carter. hr, single, another single off wall, fan robbing him of 2nd hr. hot/cold.goat/hero.
*The Yankees beat the Red Sox, 8-0. The big story was CC Sabathia, who threw eight scoreless innings. Sabathia is now 7-2 with a 3.66 ERA. The first place Yankees are two games up on the Red Sox in the AL East. Aaron Judge went 0-for-4.
*Yankees 8, Red Sox 0: This isn't what Rick Porcello had in mind for a Cy Young encore. Porcello got knocked around again, this time by the Yankees, and lost for the ninth time in 12 decisions. He gave up six runs (five earned) on eight hits, including homers by Didi Gregorius and Chris Carter. The Red Sox didn't support him either, mustering only five hits -- none after the fifth inning -- against Yankees starter CC Sabathia.
*Red Sox suffer their worst shutout loss vs the Yankees since June 27, 1991 (lost 8-0 at Fenway).

Nice bounce back win. Let's win this series tomorrow!

Gotta win the series vs boston and sweep Balt, that means no Tanaka.
When he pitches it's an automatic loss, can't we push him to monday?

5-1 would be a statement on this home stand
