Bronx Bombers 2017 Season Thread

I find a lot of Yankees losses frustrating. Probably because they are in every game almost to the end. Certainly they can't win every game, but they had Liriano on the ropes early and let him off. Big mistake by Carter at first, and Pinieda was very ordinary tonight. Sanchez hit in some hard luck tonight. Headley is dead weight.

Seems like they have been a game or two either side of 10 games over .500 for quite some time. Seems like they have been treading water for almost a month.

I think I've seen enough of Carter. Refsnyder is my choice until Byrd or Austin returns.

monte might be the best under 500 starting pitcher in baseball.
the bald brothers bash beautifully bombs.
4 homers in an inning.
refsynder over carter. but refsynder lacks the long ball.
carter has 14 rbis in 100 at bats.
*
Jason Grilli became the first reliever in Blue Jays history to give up four home runs in one inning. Brett Gardner, Matt Holliday, Starlin Castro and Didi Gregorius all hit solo home runs against Grilli in the 8th inning to give the Yankees a 7-0 lead. It's the third time in franchise history that the Yankees have hit 4 home runs in a single inning (6/30/77 at Toronto; 6/21/05 vs. Tampa Bay).
*Aroldis Chapman told me felt good after his first bullpen since landing on the DL due to left-shoulder inflammation. Chapman threw 15 pitches, all fast balls. Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild said Chapman looked "very good". Chapman said he is scheduled to throw his next bullpen on Monday, June 5th, and expects to head to the Yankees minor league complex in Tampa to throw batting practice sometime next week.

3-3 so far, hope Severino could continue what he's been doing. ERA under 3.
Would be great to end the road trip over 500.

Hicks another double, he's a double machine.
4 more HR for the Yanks (all in the 8th.

Is Monte the next Pettitte? He's a lefty as well. 6 shutout innings today with a 3.67 ERA.

TORONTO — Remember that March poll about the Mets taking over New York City?
Not a great year for polls. The Yankees not only have taken over the city, they’ve taken over baseball.
“To me,’’ a veteran scout told The Post on Saturday, “the Yankees are the most fun team in the game right now. They’re a blast to watch.’’

Mainly cause they're blasting the ball over the wall! :)

No, obviously that's the Mets and they say knocking the ball over the wall. The Yankees blast the ball over the wall as in a Ballentine blast! (called by Mel Allen and Red Barber and the Scooter Phil Rizzuto). :)

Those broadcasters brought back some great memories. I found a list of former Yankee announcers. An interesting trip back. I never knew that comedian Joe E. Brown was a Yankee announcer in 1953.
Check the list.

Ugh. Just an aggravating loss. I thought Betances should have been in there in the 8th. He hasn't pitched much of late and an off day tomorrow. 2 big mistake pitches today. Still concerned about Clippard.

tough one run loss to an al east team.
yanks got beat by a good starter & good relief pitchers.
severino pitched a good game.
all rise can steal a base or two.
girardi seems to have them running a lot more this season.

If I'm Girardi, I'm looking at starting CC on Tuesday, as I want Tanaka to pitch on an extra day rest.
Plus, I'd rather have him start once vs. the AL east teams on this home stand.

Have him pitch twice on the left coast twice, if he stinks in both starts, then send him back to Japan for a week, and let him just clear his mind and just relax.

how bad is tanaka?
The Braves have Bartolo Colón bobblehead day on June 9 when they host the Mets...his ERA is currently 7.78, nearly a run and a half worse than any other qualified starter in the majors (Masahiro Tanaka: 6.34).
*Masahiro Tanaka Fastball This Season
BA .386
SLG pct .795 (Last in MLB)
OPS 1.258 (Last)
>>Among 158 pitchers with 300 fastballs
