BRACKETOLOGY, RPI, SOS

i thought the Big east was dead, we would never survive....blah blah blah.....im loving this break away as a basketball only conference more and more.....especially the way the Johnnies are playing. A win at Nova saturday and we will either break into top 25 or get some quality votes. Dont let up fellas, stay hungry and humble.....Go Johnnies!!

Lets relax a little bit though. While I was one who always pushed back on Newsie and his death of SJU basketball and the BE posts the conference might have 6 bids in this projection but its bottom heavy.

Five bids would be a good accomplishment for the first season.

we do have work to do and we must maintain the wins.....but it feels to to be where we are , just inside the bubble....keep it up

5 would be tremendous.
4 would be a good to very good and a success.

CONFERENCE TEAMS
Pac-12 6
Big Ten 6
Big East 6 :p
American 5
Big 12 5
Atlantic 10 5
ACC 5
SEC 4
Mountain West 2
West Coast 2

This is what I like to see. Newsie may be wrong thinking that the new Big East was a dead end.

I like this projection. If we can send more teams to the dance than both the ACC and American Conference... Thats a victory for the league. Obviously we would have to have at least 3 of the 6 get far. but it would be a great start. My gut is telling me 5 bids - Creighton , Nova, St Johns, Xavier then Providence/Marquette.

Missouri has two road games coming up against Alabama and Georgia. Two very tough games.

Mizzou is the one bubble team I really think don't belong in the tournament.

I hope they lose.

Marquette's chances are fading fast.

probably moved into 11 seed at this point.

Yep, St John's now an #11 seed:

Isnt there a rule that you can't play a team you played during regular season again until the Sweet 16? Or did they do away with that rule after all the conference shuffling? Or does Lunardi even use it during his calculations?

Not sure if they still have that rule or not or whether Lunardi adheres to it. But if that were actually our bracket, I hope that is a rule!

Obviously the focus is on doing what we have to do to get in, but having Wisconsin like that would be a classic SJU kick in the pants in the tournament, when you look at the other current 3 seeds. I still laugh at us landing Gonzaga as an 11-seed, their lowest seeding in 10 years.

California and UNLV played in the regular season and in the first round last year. They do the best they can to avoid it but sometimes it happens.

Add to it SEC basketball is bad.

Yea I watched them last night. I thought they played well in stretches. But if PC gets hot they can be the 5th team

Bottom heavy? theres 3 bad teams.

Bottom heavy in teams making the dance. Not like its 6 teams and there are in the 1-5 range.

Yea only two of the possible six big east teams will be the higher seed in the first round. It's start

St. John's has a chance to be seeded in the top half of the NCAA tournament if it beats Nova. That would give us three. Xavier has a chance as well, but its remaining schedule makes that unlikely. A six seed is a possibility if they win the next four and two in the BET. That would put us at 24-10, 14-7 with a top 30 RPI. Three neutral court games in the BET would be huge for the RPI.
