BRACKETOLOGY, RPI, SOS

If I read that correctly it looks like 3 top 50 rpi games left. We are not looking pretty Againts the top 50 so those are huge. We really need 2 of 3 there plus any top 50 we can get in the bet.

The key is for them to stay in the top 50. We beat Providence, but knocked them out of the top 50 in the process.

More so than Lunardi's bracket I like the Tuesday/Thursday updates to bubble watch.

St. John's [17-9 (7-6), RPI: 53, SOS: 41] What do we make of the Johnnies? Two weeks ago, we would have scoffed at the idea of Steve Lavin's team getting to the NCAA tournament, but in February, they're 5-0 in the following sequence: versus Marquette, at Providence, versus Creighton, at Seton Hall and versus Georgetown. As such, they have become a totally realistic bubble team. They're far from a guarantee, of course, but they've played themselves into serious discussion with one month to go.

I think, right now, we would get in over Providence because of the win streak. With identical records and a split of our two games, the hotter team would (should?) get in.

What a tease. I'm reading the article with so much anticipation and then...you have to be a subscriber. Talk about a case of blue balls.

54. St. John's Red Storm (Previous ranking: 62)

The talented Johnnies have won eight of nine games after losing five in a row in January. By winning the games it should win down the stretch, St. John's can play in the postseason.

That's it? Not much of a climax.

That's what she said.

For those keeping track, that's sole possession of third place in the #BIGEAST, at least for one day! #SJUBB

were actually in 5th in terms of %. Thirst most wins however.

@ESPNLunardi: Huge opportunities tonight for: Providence (Villanova), Ole Miss (UK), Richmond (GW), St. John's (Butler) and Indiana (Iowa, now postponed).

Providence lost to Villanova
Ole Miss lost to Kentucky
Richmond lost to GW

We are the only team in this tweet that won our game tonight, huge.

RPI up one spot to #52. This is kind of disappointing. The Nova game is huge for RPI. The RPI formula just doesn't give two sh*ts if you win at home. We're looking at a minimum of a ten spot RPI jump with a win at Nova. @Marquette will also be huge.

This late in the season the RPI movements center on two things: who loses at home and who wins on the road. We are in good shape if we can avoid the home losses, split the road games, and wait for teams to lose at home and fall.

@ESPNLunardi: Bubble update. BYES: Minn, Mizzou, Tenn, StJohn. IN: Prov, StJoe, Gtown, BYU. OUT: WVU, Rich, Bay, OklaSt. NEXT: SoMiss, LaTech, Day, LSU.
