Hurley was pursued by St. John’s, but opted to remain in Tempe - where he will try and take the Sun Devils to the NCAA tourney for the third straight season.

Boom
Played
Or maybe Cragg was just trying to get Hurley paid. ;)
Yes that's it
Good point
Was your point about Scheyer, please try to keep up
Keeping up just fine there. You're thinking too hard. I knew I smelled something burning

Didnt understand the whole Bobby Hurley crap. His dad was never a fan of SJU and sent his kids elsewhere. He even told kids considering us like the kid from staten island who went to ND to go to ND. McAlarney was his name

Glass half full perspective.......

Now we can all go back to hating Bobby "Effin'" Hurley.

True, I don't recall what year McAlarney was but i don't think he liked Louie.

Kyle Mom is alumni, dad fav team was ND, was really close to going to SJU and then ran into Bobby SR and that was the end of that.

Not sure where ST John's rumor came from but ND was his dream school was always going to be ND. From horse's mouth btw

The irish kid from SI that went to ND was more recent than Looie.

Disappointed we didnt get Bobby, and wondering if I overestimated Cragg. I dont think Hurley is John Wooden, but as everyone has said you dont let Mullin walk unless you have option A and B in the bag so to speak.

This is why I hate Duke and always will. I am starting to wonder if Duke was going to fire Cragg and Coach K duped St. John's into hiring him.

We never had a chance. Every Irish kid from NY goes to Notre Dame or Duke.

In the modern era. The 80s are gone.
However this played out Cragg and St. John's come out looking bad for not getting their man.
They’re going to look bad because they said it was a national search. For all we know Bobby Hurley wasn’t the real first choice. Maybe Tommy Amaker is. Maybe another former head coach is in the discussion. Maybe Cluess is the safety pick if no viable coach bites. What recruits a candidate can bring in may be an issue. This ended worse than even I envisioned. There has to be more to this disaster than anyone is willing to discuss.

Well cragg doesn't come off looking like a heavyweight. Not as if he swooped in a snagged an old Duke buddy and rising star to build an empire here. If people was bankrolling this, should have been swift, surgical and overwhelming offer.

As it is, there are people leaking stuff that shouldn't. If they indeed even happen.

Pathetic if Cluess get officially announced, you'd have to consider them a mid major team.
If he was so damn good, then why didn't other high major choose him?
What top recruit will run to Cluess? I'm being serious too.
NYPost reported that Bobby isn't coming and we're negotiating with Tim. So Tim was Bobby backup plan, with consider anyone else? Are you freaking serious? I so freaking sick of sju.
Why even care about SJU anymore.

St. John's is done if it's Tim

Again, I'll support TC if he is hired. But if Cragg went into this with Hurley as 1A and TC as 1B and didn't even look at any other candidates, that's amateur hour.

What's stopping him from interviewing 3-4 other candidates and hearing them out? This is after all going to be your head coach for a long time.

What makes you think that he isn't working hard right now reaching out to potential candidates? Just because ASU quickly jumped to lock up Hurley, and just because Cluess spoke to SJU doesn't mean this is over by a long shot

Let’s hope not, but Hurley’s decision shouldn’t shock us. Our roster for next season is verging on invisibility and we’ve been the burial ground for several noteworthy coaches.

Pitino’s interest is generated by an appetite to get back in the bright lights and at this point even a freighter with no cargo would serve his purpose.

Hey, Lazarus made a come back, why not him and us?
