Those that know obviously think Shamorie is playing.

If he practiced yesterday and practices today, there is no reason to think he wouldn't play (unless he aggravates the injury).

Newsday Roger Rubin article: St. Johns will have Shamorie Ponds back for Wednesday's Big East Tournament opener against Georgetown!
Rubin quotes Chris Mullin: Everyone's record is 0-0...It's like a new breath of light. We could really do some things. If we stick together and play unselfish good things can happen"!

And 26 hours until the game following that, hopefully!

Here's a prediction from Howie Kussoy. He likes Georgetown to cover the spread, but more importantly, he like SJU for the outright win.

Georgetown (+4½) over St. John’s: For Chris Mullin, it’s never easy against Patrick Ewing. The Johnnies won a memorable one-point affair over the Hoyas in last year’s Big East Tournament opener, but lost a pair of last-second games to Georgetown this season.

Though St. John’s is the better team, and has been playing well of late, the Hoyas present a tough matchup with their size, and will cause problems for the Red Storm on the glass. The return of Shamorie Ponds, following two games out with an abdominal injury, should propel St. John’s into the second round, but that won’t be clear until the final minute.

Mike Vaccaro is a great guy and a huge Johnny fan, friends with Frank Alaggia.

He went to Bonaventure so he's a huge Bonnie fan too.

Here's hoping we go on a roll and you guys run the Garden out of Bronx Pale Ale!

With a fresh Ponds, I feel confident our quick players can take advantage of GT's biggest weakness, turnovers. Should win this one via deflections, steals and some easy buckets.

We can't allow G'town and Ewing bait us into a physical grind match. In that style we don't have the depth to rack up fouls which would put us into foul trouble. Need to be disciplined tonight.

Is Derrickson playing? Thought I read somewhere he was a question mark.
