He was then told he was done for the day. Good for Mullin & hopefully a lesson learned.
Trimble’s response on Twitter after the game suggests the lesson was learned. Credit Mullin for having the cajones to discipline Trimble on a day where the next man up was a walk-on.

Would love to know the skinny on Yakwe. Would think it must be more than just subpar play that has buried Yakwe below Amar on the depth chart.
Good to see Mullin isn't a push over unlike Lavin.
The same Lavin who kicked his best player (D'Angelo Harrison) off the team when the Johnnies were clearly on the NCAA bubble at the time (the Johnnies was 16-10 and 8-6 in the Big East when Harrison was sent packing)?

What did Lavin do or didn't do for you to believe he was a "pushover?" If it's the situation (or, shenanigans) with Jordan, that doesn't constitute anyone being a pushover. Frankly, I think kicking your best player off the team when you're in the midst of a potential run to make the NCAA Tournament clearly screams the opposite.
Yeah the Jordan bs leaving back to Philly whenever he damn pleased, and didn't Obekpa refuse to play not once but twice? (Providence, and not sure of the other time, but was after the PC games.)

Maybe both left because they knew play time was over.
The Jordan drama still doesn't constitute a pushover. I only recall Obekpa refusing to go in the game once. Jordan was gonna be ineligible to play during Mullin's first season. Obekpa may have bolted because of "rules" or may be another reason.

Regardless, I don't consider a "pushover" kicking his best player off the team when the squad was in serious contention for an NCAA Tournament bid.

If I recall properly, Jordan had decided at some point during his final semester that he wasn't coming back and fell hopelessly behind in academics. After meeting with Mullin he changed his mind but was too far behind in schoolwork to retain eligibility.

Obekpa, whatever his reasons were, maintains a warm relationship with Lavin to this day. A few weeks ago, he sent Lavin very warm recollection of Steve's mom and expressed his sympathy on her passing. Lavin for his part was equally warm in his response. Strange world we live in, that such heartfelt emotions are expressed publicly on social media.

With this winter storm headed for NYC, wonder how that will impact things. Probably the biggest effect would be on attendance, since all teams are already in town.

There are no shortage of reasons why the top tier schools such as Villanova, Duke, UNC, Arizona and others did not offer Mr. Jordan who Rivals has as its #20 player in the class of 2013.

Those schools can be more selective who they target. Actually, Villanova did recruit him, but backed off. You must've forgot UCLA went after Jordan, too.

Besides, I don't mind giving a kid a chance, as long as they aren't troublemakers. Jordan may have been a pain in the ass in other ways, but troublemaker wasn't the issue. They were giving a kid an opportunity.

I wouldn't be surprised, if your ass was rejoicing when Jordan committed to St. John's, though.

Otis , spot on regarding Jordan , Rysheed, not Michael . I always thought why didn’t he go to Temple , right in town. And , like you, thought it a red flag that Nova never pursued him . He was a good player, Head Case , future law breaker and obviously not interested in School or a education . He fooled himself into thinking he was better than he reality was . Who knows if he makes the NBA after St John’s ? He needed to do more than he showed in his 2 Years . Too bad , he picked the wrong path . Wonder if Lavin still
maintains contact ?

Not even close. Brown had all of the "big dogs" and blue bloods after him before his initial transgression.

Brown's issues were far, far more serious than anything Jordan had done before he entered college.

Jordan's crime after he left St. John's was certainly foolish and he's paying the price for it. But, he was never a troublemaker while at St. John's. Some of y'all need to shut the F up, if you don't know what some people have to go through to survive.

Everybody don't make it out of their situation or environment. It's not an excuse. It's reality. Some may have the fortitude to do so, but many others don't without the proper guidance or support system.

Let the shit go.

Can't speak for Lavin although I'm pretty sure he visited him after his arrest. Father rock has visited him more than once.

In general lavin is very loyal to his former sju players and keeps in touch with them.

Sometimes we have to take chances to get top talent. Some work and some do not. In this case it did not work out.

Yes, Lavin has visited him in jail.

Agree Manhattan . If Lavin did visit him , Jordan , in Jail , that’s a notable effort on Steve’s part . Not being cynical or doubting the accuracy of your comment , how would a person know if he did pay him a visit ?Did Lavin go public or, was it something shared in confidence and it got out? Are Prison Visitors logs public info ? That being said , kudoes to Steve if he saw Rysheed in Jail . Has Jordan had a trial or convicted? Or, plead guilty ? Does anyone know ?

It was shared in confidence and it got out I believe.

I believe Jordan's trial is set for March 14th per his Instagram page that I believe his family member is in charge of.

And if you can't let it go, at least climb down off the mountains of it upon which you are standing. The research shows clear linkages between physical and sexual abuse in childhood and substance abuse (ACES research, V. Fellitti) and mental illness (K. Muenzenmaier)

Steve has visited him. My source is Fr. Rock, who has visited RJ several times.

So, we know this team can take down the goliaths heading into the BE tourney, and this discussion has focused on 2 young kids who made extremely poor life choices?

Anyone actually care about the game?! Can someone give an update on Ponds?

Georgetown opens as 4.5 point underdogs against St. John's tomorrow night in the Big East Tournament.

I’m guessing we’ll hear something about Shamorie’s ability to play soon. The staff will have to comment to a question all covering reporters are asking.
Here’s hoping he’s good to go.
But the way this team has been playing, they can win the game, regardless.
Let’s go Johnnies.

He didn't tell any reporters or anything. He actually was in Atlantic City I believe for meetings and was supposed to go back to Manhattan for some other stuff and blew it all off so he could go visit Jordan spur of the moment without making it public
