BET - Wed., Mar. 7, 7 p.m., Georgetown (8) vs. St. John's (9), FS1, Radio TBA

Chris Mullin says @ShamorieP will practice today and they’ll evaluate him from there. They play Georgetown on Wednesday night.
Good news, IMO, because Mullin usually brings the injured party back once they start practicing.

Heard issue w Trimble was not refusing to go in, but mouthing off at CM. He was then told he was done for the day. Good for Mullin & hopefully a lesson learned.

I heard same thing. He got yanked for a missed defensive assignment after 2 minutes and didn't like it and mouthed off.

Trimble’s response on Twitter after the game suggests the lesson was learned. Credit Mullin for having the cajones to discipline Trimble on a day where the next man up was a walk-on.

Would love to know the skinny on Yakwe. Would think it must be more than just subpar play that has buried Yakwe below Amar on the depth chart.

Kenpom give StJohns a 65% chance of defeating Georgetown predicting a final score of 75 to 71....... let’s hope.

Man, a freshman mouthing off to a NBA HOFer as coach? Hope he humbles himself. I like that Mullin went on principle rather than playing the best players. Sets the tone for the program. No one is bigger than the team.

I agree, a little mysterious as Yakwe has always seemed like a good kid and not at all the type who would have done anything to put him in the doghouse (other than bad play). Coincidence or not, the last game he played more than miniscule minutes was the Georgetown OT loss where he played 16 minutes but fouled Derrickson on the 3 point shot that killed us.

This morning Jon Feinstein on FAN was saying something to the effect of if St. Johns beat Xavier once, G'Town once, Providence once...we would be talking NCAA - and he indicated SJU played them tough (which we all know) and could well have beaten these teams - he alluded to Lovett gone and Ponds missing a few games - positive pub.

Maybe SJU and Ponds can replicate Kemba Walker and our beloved (yeah right lol) UConn and go on a run.
How sweet that would be. Impossible, no. Likely, no.

Sorry if I am repeating myself, at the home Marquette game I spoke to a staff member who said Yakwe was healthy...so that tells it all - a non-health reason for him sitting on the bench.
Wow if he could only give us a few quality minutes v. G'Town.

"Grassy knoll"
For those of us who are not history majors, does that mean that there are multiple theories as to why Ponds has been sitting?
No
Although, FWIW and as you likely realize, if one googles "grassy knoll" it comes up as one of many conspiracy theories to the JFK assassination.

Get healthy, Stay healthy Shamporie - let's go St. Johns and take down the Hoyas!

A similar number from ESPN's BPI index. They give us a 63.3% chance of victory, though they don't predict a score.

Good to see Mullin isn't a push over unlike Lavin.

The same Lavin who kicked his best player (D'Angelo Harrison) off the team when the Johnnies were clearly on the NCAA bubble at the time (the Johnnies was 16-10 and 8-6 in the Big East when Harrison was sent packing)?

What did Lavin do or didn't do for you to believe he was a "pushover?" If it's the situation (or, shenanigans) with Jordan, that doesn't constitute anyone being a pushover. Frankly, I think kicking your best player off the team when you're in the midst of a potential run to make the NCAA Tournament clearly screams the opposite.

Certainly by now the staff knows just what kind of a student athlete Trimble is. Does he attend classes and meetings on time and was Sat action an anomaly or has he been a jerk all year. Base the punishment on his total year's actions and if it was his first offense drop it.

Hmm, does it mean that Shamorie was tied to the assasination of JFK?
I think we should launch an investigation and the primary investigator needs to be Jerry Seinfeld. Of course, he'll need the assistance of Kramer and Newman! ;)
and the assistance of Keith Hernandez who solved the case by naming Roger McDowell as the culprit.

To beat G'town on Wednesday we have to improve our defense against Derrickson (17&27pts), Govan (18 & 16pts.), Mosley(13 &12pts.), Blair (9 & 15pts.),and Pickett (16pts.)
Clark has been consistent scoring 15 both games while Ponds came through with 17 and 33pts. Simon had 16 in the first game followed by only 8 in the overtime thriller where Ahmed and Owens showed up with 13 and 17 respectively. Both had low scoring games on January 9 with 2 and 6 pts.
I expect Ewing's team to turn the ball over, hopefully we take advantage on fast break points.
What we do know is it's never say die with our guys.

On the broadcast they said he had a stomach virus Saturday. Is there more to read into it? He played a bit the game before so I trusted the story told.

Heard the same thing happened with Slice. He was then told he was done.....period.

Mullin isn't: 1) a doormat 2) the type to hold a grudge.

If staff believes Trimble can provide value, he will see action. For all good coaches, at least half the game is about creating favorable matchup.

Too bad ponds may not be 100%. Otherwise this game would be a great measure of how far this team has come in the past month.

A win would be sweet.

Yeah the Jordan bs leaving back to Philly whenever he damn pleased, and didn't Obekpa refuse to play not once but twice? (Providence, and not sure of the other time, but was after the PC games.)

Maybe both left because they knew play time was over.
