They only thing I ask for my birthday is a win tonight. That's it. No presents. No money. Just a damn frikkin win!!

After losing 3 in a row and losing twice to DePaul, this feels like a completely unwinnable game for fans, but in actuality we should have a good shot if we play our game. It feels really hollow to say that though.

Usually the 7 vs 10 big east tournament game means nothing with neither team going anywhere .Not tonight. This game could be the most significant game in the Mullin era.
A win would lock up an NCAA bid which would cover up an awful lot of just how bad the season was.
If a loss results in no bid Mullin will enter next year under enormous pressure to save his job and the team will be remembered as underachievers who although having one of the more talented rosters in the league ended up as the worse team in the league.

I can't explain why but I feel we win handily tonight. Maybe the guys come out motivated to ease coaches pain from his brothers passing or playing at the World's Greatest Arena will do it. At any rate we move on to Marquette.

Of course we can win
BUT we usually don’t versus bigger better rebounding teams
Not as optimistic as some
Hope for the best
For me it would be a pleasant surprise to grab a W

Go Storm
All the best

I think that we will be able to tell a lot on the first 3-point shot tonight. If we follow up and crash the boards we will have a better shot than our usual shoot and retreat style. Too many times we have no one under for a potential rebound.

Might as well crash the boards like crazy rather than run back on D and get pounded inside. This approach might save us some fouls and create a track meet and it is different from anything we did all year.

There is no way DePAul runs the floor like our top 5 do, so if it's a track meet, advantage our guys.

the attendance should be good for tonight. Although game 1 fans will largely bail on game 2, in 24 hours there were a ton of cheap and good stubhub tickets that have now vanished.

Anyone know if these BE Tourney games are considered home games for us when it comes to NCAA Tourney selection process?

We are a cat that has lost 8 lives, time to show some urgency

Gameday. My prediction is we win by 8 plus. I'm extremely confident. New season. Time for the run we can go on. Expecting a big game from clark tonight.

Years ago when I was a freshman at st John's the senior on the team was Sonny Dove. Oh how we could use a guy like him. But I recall being at alumni hall as we won a game and the students screaming N I T. That is where this team is headed but no one is screaming. Put the balls away and watch a movie

Sonny Dove was a great Redman and such a fine human being - from what I recall he was getting his life together, even announcing St. John’s games on the radio and driving a taxi when at night he tragically drove off into the gowanis canal...RIP
I’m sure Sonny would want the current team to suck it up and grab a few rebounds and grab a W tonight.

Those fans must have been very disappointed: St. John's went to the NCAA tourney in 1967, Sonny' senior year. That aside, I think we can agree that making the NIT has taken on a different meaning -- as has the reason for screaming -- in the ensuing 52(!) years.

Watching the Butler - Providence game last week I couldn't help but notice how each team sent 3 players to the offensive boards. While Mullin's philosophy is to transition all back on defense. When I played evry coach was satisfied having just the two guards retreating after a shot.

All valid points. I will add one more. Protect the defensive boards. Basic fundamentals here. Find a man. Put a body on the man. Grab the rebound. That, along with 40, not 25 or 30 minutes of effort, will pull this team over the finish line with a victory tonight.
