Great win. Entire team played with a lot of heart and passion. Tremendous effort on defense. This was the way I thought this team would play all season long. It's been a roller coaster of a season so far but, when we play like this, we can compete with almost anyone.

I believe that our NCAA ticket is punched. We had to avoid another bad loss. I really thought that losing last night (3 losses to DePaul) might have knocked us out. Let's put it to Marquette again tonight and see how far we can go at MSG. The talent is there to do it. If we can keep up the intensity, you never know......

WE ARE ....... ST JOHN'S!!!

Just a reminder our beat writer picked against us. Called out by his coworker for being too negative.

Aren’t we lucky to be covered by a guy that looks exactly like Jared from Subway and who wants us to fail?
I’m not the biggest Zach fan but everyone calls him a jinx and he jokes about it often. I might be wrong but feel he was jinxing DePaul with that tweet.
No, he really thought we would lose & frankly I too don’t think a beat writer should engage in specific touts like that.

He better pick Marquette tonight. He may be related to this guy.

Zach works for the post and not for the School. I believe he is fair. Why should he have picked us? We lost to this team twice and we looked lifeless in the previous game. He is rooting for us to be good makes his job better but he has to do his job as well and will lose credibility if he is a homer.

I don't even read what reporters write. Unlike coaches, who know basketball much better than the average and even sophisticated fan, writers are essentially just fans too, most of whom never played the game. I do think that color analysts who played or coached are often interesting to listen to because they have a better knowledge and certainly experience than most fans.

Shouldn't have come down to this but given the circumstances I'm proud of the guys for coming out relentless. It's such a noticeable difference when they play hard vs. just showing up going through motions. So refreshing to see the return of gang rebounding, cutting off driving big men, and let's credit the refs for letting both teams play and not forcing themselves into the game. Our game at its peak relies on fast breaks and that's exactly what we had...we've all missed it. Though it was nice to see a nice balanced scoring attack, I really want to shove Ponds down Marquette's throats until they prove they can stop him or if he's ice cold. He is due for a few 30+ games he just goes off. Keita also impressed me I must admit...he actually looked like an ok big man last night. Glad they didn't call a foul on the block on Femi's shot. That gets called 9/10 times just because they assume there was contact beyond the ball even though it was all ball. Just a nice reset game...at least we're in now and the rest is house money. We are due to make a run in one of these...been 20 years practically since we won.

Good observations.
Let's Go Johnnies!

The little man woke me up at 3am for a feeding, but it gave me a chance to watch the score over the final 10 minutes and text my uncle/brother down the stretch. Glad to see us pull it out and sneak our way in.

Unusual but some posters on the Seton Hall forum actually praised last night's defensive effort. A few went so far as to agree that our zone was "brilliant and completely effective." Quite a compliment on a forum that has constantly bashed Mullin as a horrible coach.

The defensive change helped a ton and we are going to need some wrinkles moving forward, to combat our opositions’s formerly easy preparation against us. It rattled Strus and others a ton.

Mullin and the staff get ripped for never changing things up - I've done it myself. But last night they had a good defensive game plan, and time to implement it - and it worked. Credit to them.

HELL of a win! I was super anxious for this, so glad we were able to pull it off!!
And the resident NET guru's work wasn't a complete waste of his time!

I usually like to see our name flash on the screen before getting too excited, but it definitely feels like a lock to me now. It's actually the most lock-ish I've felt, which is remarkable considering our slump seemed like a killer.
I actually thought about adding the disclaimer "unless we lose by 30 to Marquette," but I purposely left it out because I didn't think there was any way in hell we'd lose by more than 7 if we did lose. Whoops.
