BET Game 1- Providence -Thursday, 2:30pm Fox Sports 1

After watching a good amount of college basketball this year with this team and others I think I have a decent perspective on the team and the coach. Lavin isn't a bad coach actually. I've come to appreciate him more this year than prior years and appreciate the enormity of the challenge he faces coaching at SJU. He is a good coach and a good advocate for his college players. He teaches life lessons and is a very positive person. All good attributes. Is he the best.. No, but candidly if he was he wouldn't be here. While we have some decent senior players on the team we have no talent with size/length and you can't win in the top 25-35 programs without it so its not surprising we got crushed against Nova and Providence. Not the coaches faulf and candidly not the players fault. We are simply just not that good enough to play big when it matters. Providence and Nova were simply much more talented than our team and it showed on the court. Next year will be really tough to watch and expect to be this years

It is our coaches fault when he doesn't recruit big men. Not rocket science. You need size to win and if you don't recruit size, you don't win games.

@rumbleSBN: Lavin on why Rysheed didn't start: "Older group. Jamal's been playing well." #

Huh?

Huh indeed. Jordan single-handedly prevented this game from becoming a bloodbath of Villanova-type proportions.

On the bright side, the guys have a week to recoup. Let's hope psychologically they can get it together, especially Harrison.

One and done in the NCAA's likely, but, at least the coach gives the school some hope. Give the coach an extension.. who else would come here that would be better anyway. Unless there is someone better give the coach another 3 years.

The puzzling things that surround this team can't be fathomed.. DLO sports a first rate shiner that looks like he went 10 rounds with Mayweather.. Balamou's absence is never explained although, the announcers advanced ' maybe a practice session scrap?" DLO, Greene and Pointer gave nothing today. They should have paid for tickets.

Jordan doesn't start the biggest game of the year and has been the catalyst for the 2nd half of the season.. What's going on in the locker room?

Frankly, at this point it is all moot..

Good point. Forgot about Balamou.

@NYPost_Brazille: Steve Lavin: "I don't think it's them. I'm a poor conference tournament coach." #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: To summarize, Steve Lavin says he's a bad conference tournament coach and Rysheed Jordan didn't start because of practice. #sjubb

I assume tongue in cheek on conference tourney record.

Steve Lavin now saying #sjubb is a much better half court team than transition. Huh? #sjubb

Doesn't exactly kill it in the tournaments after the conference ones either!

@CBarcaSTJ: Lavin says SJU is one of the poorest transition teams he's ever coached: "We really struggle in transition to convert." #SJUBB

Huh, Huh?

Not sure what's more surprising the game or these quotes.
Hey, at least he is entertaining! Hahahaha, I find these quotes hysterical! Hahahaha about as funny as our game today. An they say they don't make good comedies anymore.

These quotes have got to be a put on. It's not April 1st yet.

Will be immensely disappointing for this team to end their careers with 3 straight losses.

Despite Robert Morris last year, I think we get by our first NIT opponent with ease this time around.

I was thinking about Robert Morris last night. Watching Seton Hall's dismal performance reminded me of our NIT loss. Willard's team was listless and played as if they didn't care.

Ugly game. I'm very disappointed, and I would much rather be playing later this week. The silver lining here is we got our clock cleaned on the boards and that will be fresh in the minds of everyone next week. It also probably helps that we dealt with foul trouble with both Dom and CO and both Dom and Harrison saw their Big East careers end on awful performances.

That call on Dom for the fourth foul was disgusting. As a ref, you're main job is to let the kids decide the game. Giving Dom his fourth with 13 minutes left on a phantom call took away our chance to win. Just swallow the damn whistle.

When Jordan left clutching his wrist, I was in disbelief at just how unlucky this program is. First, Ty Grant's injury keeping us from a Final Four, then DJ in 2010-2011, and this? Thankfully he came back on the court and we now have at leas a week to rest and get back to the fundamentals.

Wow if you thought we were having a bad day, think about Illinois, ODU and Texas A & M.. At least we live to fight another day and who knows, maybe we can get a 10 or 11 seed and have an easier path to sweet 16

Jamal Branch: "We had no points in transition, and that's pretty much our game." #sjubb. Difference of opinion obviously.

So Lavin says we're a terrible transition team, and more of a half court team.
His point guard thinks transition is their bread and butter. Makes sense.
