(BET) #4 Seton Hall, Thur., Mar. 14. 2:30p, FS-1

was at the Self-Destruction at UBS - we need a name for that game... 19pt lead->Lose... The Rant that turned the season around (don't care if some of you don't wanna admit it... we haven't lost since...)... The Fall to the Hall... The Haunt at Belmont... one of you creative nerds will figure it out...

Anyway- The team has turned a corner- wasn't pretty yesterday- but they got the Job done. I fully expect this group to come out with Fire and not get knocked down when the Hall delivers a couple punches (cause they won't go quietly)

8 point win.
Yeah me too, the one game I took my wife and daughter to. Ironically they enjoyed the game

One of the keys to this game will be fouls.

Game 1:
Fouls
23 STJ - 14 SH

Free throws
8-14 STJ
26-32 SH

Game 2:
Fouls
28 STJ - 15 SH

Free throws
10-13 STJ
25-37 SH

WAY TOO MANY FREE POINTS

We're going to have to be able to play defense without fouling them. We need a productive game from Dingle and not have him limited to 15 minutes. We need Taylor to bring the energy he did against Creighton & Butler. We need Luis to play with the focus he did the 2nd half against Georgetown. Jenkins needs to be under control, and he needs to stay in front of his man.

I don't think we've shown anything during this streak to say we've corrected this stuff. But we were ahead by 19 points against SHU for a reason. They are not that better than us. It's a winnable game.
When we press we commit way too many fouls far away from the basket. We commit fouls 50ft away from the basket. If we don’t press and just play tough half court defense we will cut down on the fouls and subsequently the amount of foul shots they get and we will cut down on amount of easy layups they get. That’s good for a 20 point swing right there.

What a matchup! 2 great coaches. 2 teams that are going to play hard. This game will come down to the final minute. Who wants it more.

I think we owe seton hall one and we will get it.

I'd put Taylor on Richmond and Luis on Davis. Richmond is the facilitator and makes the engine run.

I'd also utilize some zone defense being the Hall are considered a weak 3-point shooting team.

Remember y'all, we were also up 19 on them a couple weeks or so ago. I'm far from fearing this game. I think if we jump out to a big lead again then we'll hold steady.
Agree. I believe we had trouble when Joel screens on the perimeter…Bediako is limited in skills but is very good at hedging and making our guards go east-west and we end up with an offense that starts too high and ends up with rushed shots. If Joel were good at pick and roll wouldn’t be an issue. Make Joel stay down low and let Ledlum set the high screens (and Zuby),

In any case, we are better than SH and will win.

On a side note, itll be interesting to see whether Holloway stays beyond this year. Can’t make lemons out of lemonade every year. If they don't get their NIL together, they will have problems next year (sad but true).

And I think the fouls come because our guys look to steal but should be satisfied with delaying their offense

I would think it would have to be a really special job, for him to leave the alma mater.

I wouldn't be shocked if he's there for 20 years

All it takes for us to not be in, even after being the top of the last four in, is something like:
-- A non-Dayton team winning the Atlantic 10.
-- A non-FAU team winning the AAC
-- A bubble Mountain West team winning
-- Two teams in high-major conferences like Pittsburgh/Kansas State/Wake Forest/Colorado/Texas A&M/Iowa getting hot and picking up multiple Quad 1 wins & making their conference finals.

I think this is the game of the year for us.
Regrettably, you re right. lets take care of business w SHU.

Every year for the last 25 years, I have had a standing bet with 2 die hard seton hall fans. Each year has 5 bets (potentially 6 in years like this). The head to head games, who does better in the Big East regular season, who goes further in the big east tournament, and finally who goes further in the NCAA tournament. I have lost so much money over the last 25 years a could have sponsored an NIL team!! I don't know if I can handle going 0-6 this year.

For my sanity especially after last game versus the hall, we need to win this one!

Who handled your bankruptcy proceedings.

My opinion is a little different than many at this time of year; there is no coaching magic to be applied. Both teams know each others strengths and weaknesses and it comes down to player execution. IMO, SJU needs to do two things, make SHU shoot the ball, not consistently get to the basket and the foul line. The second, match SHU’s toughness, commit to manning up hard for 40 minutes and stay the course.
From here on out, we need a 40 minute(or more on in the case of OT) effort, and disciplined and heady basketball.

No if, ands or butts about it.
