(BET) #4 Seton Hall, Thur., Mar. 14. 2:30p, FS-1

was at the Self-Destruction at UBS - we need a name for that game... 19pt lead->Lose... The Rant that turned the season around (don't care if some of you don't wanna admit it... we haven't lost since...)... The Fall to the Hall... The Haunt at Belmont... one of you creative nerds will figure it out...

Anyway- The team has turned a corner- wasn't pretty yesterday- but they got the Job done. I fully expect this group to come out with Fire and not get knocked down when the Hall delivers a couple punches (cause they won't go quietly)

8 point win.

The Hall is a tough opponent for us . They can beat us off the dribble and have repeatedly . Which is why we fouled like there was a bonus for us doing so .
Richmond , Davis , Dawes are tough match ups .

Last night Vs DePaul , they were 12-24 on 3’s . We can’t allow them to score 36 points that way .

And , if we get them down with a lead , can’t let them back into the game . They exposed and embarrassed us last time which prompted the RP press conference .

Pitino will need to devise a defensive strategy to contain them . He had to take the Press off against G’Town as it was ineffective and gave them way too many 3’s.
And , Soriano can’t loaf back on D as he usually does on too many trips.
Dingle and Jenkins can’t get into that ticky tack foul trouble , which they often do when pressing . We need Dingle nailing that mid range jumper and not resting on the bench like against the Hoyas .

It will be a tough game .Holloway never panics and neither does his team .
Maybe RP should use more Zone against them . Cut down on our fouling .

The Pirates have beaten us twice and no lead is safe against them . They will be very confident they can make it 3 in a row .

I agree with those who think Pitino must match or out coach Shaheen this time .

In simplest terms, you have a HOF coach going against a rising talent, who took a MAAC team in St Peter’s very deep in Dance. Additionally you have many local kids going after each other and of course the SJ revenge factor.

I am buckled up for a great and hopefully successful watch. Man, the BE is unique and top shelf. Hopefully it survives the irrational evolution and de$truction a of a great sport. Go Johnnies!

My opinion is a little different than many at this time of year; there is no coaching magic to be applied. Both teams know each others strengths and weaknesses and it comes down to player execution. IMO, SJU needs to do two things, make SHU shoot the ball, not consistently get to the basket and the foul line. The second, match SHU’s toughness, commit to manning up hard for 40 minutes and stay the course.

Solid points, especially making SH shoot & avoid fouling. The latter, inclusive of unnecessarily reaching in on perimeter & getting in negative bonus situations early can be huge in a close game. I would add my pet peeve of too often not getting back in transition & finding guys.

I think the game should be called “The Rant.” Everyone is college basketball knows about it.

"How has practice been this week for your Pirates, Coach Sha?"
"To be honest chippy"
"Chippy?"
" I guess Dylan Adai Wusu grabbing the backup center by the neck and choking him until the two had to be separated, I would call that chippy"

Totally agree with all points and would add pressing part of the time vs most of the time. The reason being the press might be more effective if it comes in bunches then backs off. Also by not pressing most of the time it will save lots of dumb ticky tacky fouls that we are prone to. I actually liked the aggressive pressing with our fresh second team.
