Basketball schedule

I don't care if we're favored or not. Tell the truth I'd rather them rank us as low as possible and then surpass "expectations". If we're the underdog and then have a big season, it creates that much more buzz for our program and Lavin.

totally agree

Lets not write off USF as an on campus game anymore. They went to the NCAA's last year.

The MSG games are all about putting fannies in the seats. How many jaded New Yorkers are going to shell out MSG prices to watch the Bulls? Maybe 8K if it's a nice day and not much else is going on in the city. We played Miami at AH back in the day even though they were a top twenty program that year.

I was reading the sju twitter on JJ and they were saying that the SJU schedule is coming out tomorrow. I thought it always comes out in september?

Then I read this from Amir

We read the same thing last year, I`m not doubting them but rather see action over words. Just don`t say anything just come out and do your thing. When you talk then you better put up or you`ll look stupid.

Your right. I wish he'd say that were gonna suck this year. It would sound so much better. Exuberance is overrated.

I'm guessing they mean that the non-conference schedule will be released tomorrow. The Big East has to wait for the NHL and NBA schedules to come out (NHL already has released theris) before they do anything, because so many teams in our league play in pro arenas (ourselves included).

NHL and NBA schedules are done already. NHL has already unveiled and NBA usually unveils after their weird Free Agency date later this week. This is the earliest I can ever remember STJ releasing their schedule. Times might still be up in the air but dates should be there.

I'm looking forward to seeing who our out of conference opponents are. It'll be interesting to see if Lavin was able to add a marquee opponent to take the place of UCLA, or will Duke really be it besides the obligations to Charleston and the BE-SEC matchup.

FWIW I'd like to see a relative easy schedule early on; no troublesome midmajors like Detroit, Lehigh, St Marys etc.
But a notable game against a Big10/PAC12 opponent in January or February.

And whoever asked the athletic dept on twitter when the schedule was coming out is a genius. Simply brilliant. :ngrin:

I think we have enough returning players with experience as well as the depth to beat many of those early season opponents that normally give us trouble. Having a starting backcourt of Greene and Harrison alone who played all last season is huge for us. Our additions at all positions on the floor should make us a lot of fun to watch, even early on in the schedule. I'm wondering who we play in first round of Charleston Classic. It hasn't been mentioned yet, correct?

I heard a few weeks ago that we play Charleston.

Thanks Moose. Probably as good of a matchup as we could get in our first game in that field.

I read on the C Classic site that Charleston fans don't need to buy tics for the T because they are part of their season tic package. Could tics for DHers involving home team be tough to come by?

Tickets are on the tournament website and pretty affordable for the entire game package.

#stjbb will be opening the 2012/13 campaign vs Detroit at CA at 2pm during the 24 hours of hoops marathon on ESPN.

#stjbb will open season in Queens vs. Detroit on Nov. 13 at 2 pm part of 24-hr Hoops Tip-off Marathon.

I don't like how the game is so close to Charleston.

So we will be playing the 13th, 15th, 16th and 18th.

 It gives us TV exposure.

I know.
But it doesn't change the fact there is a lot of games in short time frame there.
Just my opinion but personally I wouldn't play the DET game. But Lav loves ESPN games and who can blame him. Thankfully this year we have depth to combat 4 games in a week.

That is NBA'ish with so, many games close together. I guess I'll be leaving work early the day we play Detroit. ;)
