We shouldn't stop with just the current lax team, we should create an entire ex-lax section also.Great post.
Would also help to just have the Lax team at every game. Made a big difference and a constant presence like that would really help
My section was better than I've heard it in years, but seemed to have fewer providence fans than others
Put the ex-lax section near a bathroom or it could get uglyWe shouldn't stop with just the current lax team, we should create an entire ex-lax section also.
I hate it. Too early (I'm not a morning person, in general).I prefer the noon time too
And of course for you--no screw driver but a mimosa with Dom Perignon as your fan club only expects the bestAn egg cheese with mortadella on a roll would be perfect
Yeah as mentioned I wasn't at the game and it sounded as I expected on TV, though some of you in attendance expected it be to louder which is fair since what you heard is different from what I did. These older paying fans are still very beneficial to our fan base, but my main point was any specifics about individuals should be off-limits.
I think out of all the BE teams we'll face at MSG, PC is the least exciting. No ranking (Creighton, others), not a National Champion (UConn, Nova, Marq, GTown), generally a civil fanbase, etc. That combined with it being on a weeknight, I wasn't expecting too loud of a crowd. I'd be very surprised if people aren't more excited for the rest of our MSG games. It'll happen.
Creighton tickets, in a much less expensive arena, in a coty with a tiny fraction of the population, and with average salary compensation far lower, is far more expensive for tickets and they rank #6 in mcaa attendance. They certainly have built a great following in a football area.I realize that most other big east schools dwarf SJU when it comes to attendance but nobody mentions the cost of the tickets. That may be a big part of the reason.
Of course if we play UCONN or Duke at MSG we will have good attendance. The problem is half the fans are from the opposing team . It is like playing a neutral game instead of a home game.Attendance hasn’t been bad. It just isn’t gonna draw 20k every game when we have stunk for several decades. Should have spent less money on shitty coaches and terrible broken contracts and more on making the right hire and building our brand. The mom n pop stuff is definitely an issue we seem to be slowly moving past but it isn’t gonna draw major crowds right away. We are breaking 5 digits at most games which is a good start. In the future also schedule teams that draw like Duke, Kansas and Cuse. Those are automatic packed houses along with the usual UConn contingent.
Right with ya…too many folks who seem to feel “to cool” to chant “defense” or to drown out the opposing fans…back in the day ”Here we go Redmen, Here we go” would raise that roof at Alumni Hall (now the Carn)when you hear the other fans getting way louder than us early in the game people need to take that as an insult and get a lot louder sooner. My voice was shot when I got home. Plug for Manuka Honey btw
Attendance is not the issue. Being loud and cheering on the Red is the issue. When providence went on their runs there was LOUD Lets go Friars chants. There was no lets go johnnies or defense chants from our fans.
Our fans don't even participate in wearing a free shirt when it's a themed white out night on campus.

Yes its building a winning tradition but their obstacles are far greater than ours in my opinion
Where are you getting your numbers? When I look at Ticketmaster Creighton seems to be selling their tickets for a lowest price of $23. That isn’t more than SJU at MSG it’s close to three times less than Providence and four times less than the upcoming Marquette game.Creighton tickets, in a much less expensive arena, in a coty with a tiny fraction of the population, and with average salary compensation far lower, is far more expensive for tickets and they rank #6 in mcaa attendance. plus as much as I like our two on-court personalities, we really need to focus on engaging the crowd not just entertaining…at one point, during a time out with PC threatening, the band is playing some non distinct tune that largely goes unnoticed.
Need to establish some traditions like getting the crowd singing some song that spans generations (Sweet Johnnyline)…yeah, wacky idea, but I’m 67, have been a season ticket holder since ‘74 and am still as into it now as when I started.
