No doubt feeling the change in tone from the ISU fan base to SJU like he spoke of a few years ago while at ISU. It's a shame some of our fans can't ease up on a new staff three months into their tenure. Assuming they are doing anything wrong at this point means the fans think they know better than three guys who have been doing this their entire adult lives.

The vast, vast majority of posters are super-duper excited with the job the staff has done to date - and see the vision that staff has for this program going forward. It's just flat out exciting. There are just a couple of idiotic ding-dong posters that have agendas that can't keep their mouths shut for more than a couple of hours. It's sad some the stupid drivel that people type up.

Sorry to hurt your feelings that every fan including myself have not jumped on the all is amazing we are a force to be reckoned with bandwagon bc of our new coach. I have no agenda. Was time for a change with Lavin both sides seemed to be unhappy or just maintaining status quo. I'm also hesitant about the new regime, our HC hasn't coached a college in game, ever. Good recruiters, great ones around him, but we need to be able to put it together. Time will tell.

How about just jumping on the benefit of the doubt wagon?
Have a good holiday weekend and I hope whatever is really disappointing you in life gets resolved so you can stop projecting your bad feelings onto a team of college kids led by a brand new coach that wants nothing more than to make all the fans of the program proud.

It's obvious Mullin is waiting for his choice, Pinckney or whoever. Rather then jump and panic to please the impatient Redmen fan he has no immediate need for an x and o coach. Doesn't the season begin in November?

Pinckney isn't coming, as Hoiberg kept him on with the Bulls. I believe they want to bring in the next assistant coach now because 4 coaches can be on the road. With the July recruiting period getting underway, then it's best served to bring him on board soon, if Mullin wants all of his coaches on the road for this particular recruiting period.

It's also good to have the 4th assistant coach soon because one can occasionally be left behind (whether, it's Mullin or the new assistant, as Abdelmassih and Slice will be on the road for the most part) to assist in team workouts, while the other 3 are on the road.

I interpreted Matt's post as referencing negativity in the world, and not necessarily pertaining to the SJUBB program.

Don't you worry, nothing will affect my weekend as it is in fact just a bunch of college kids. It certainly won't affect me. Just how angry you get that I have doubts about our program because of in-game coaching and x's and o's is baffling. I know you love Mullin especially with his connection to Lou, I love Lou too as we both are Stanners, but I am entitled to my opinion and am able to question things, and still remain a loyal fan. Just ask any Mets, Jets, Knicks fan.

There are some voids to be filled. What are we going to do if we land great recruits but there's no system or situational coaching asset to get us over the hump?

I also do not get the fact that most on here act as if we have it all in the bag now without a game played, and when someone says something to the contrary the immediate response is ironically, we haven't played a game yet. It goes both ways. As I mentioned, time will tell. I want the new regime to succeed, 110%, but I am allowed to question and cast my doubts.

I'm pretty sure Matt A's tweet had nothing to do with negativity about SJUBB or basketball.

There's just a lot of negativity and bad news in the headlines lately, and he was wishing everyone a happy and safe 4th. I wouldn't read too much into it

Matt A hasn't doesn't know anything about anger yet till he reads his first Bobre " defining moment " thread after a bad loss :)

As of yet you have nothing to doubt. The season hasn't started and we will have a young team that will need time to gel. When you have a coaching change things take time to work through. We need to rally around Chris and the team. I truly do not believe that we will have a better long term alternative at coach. I read this board for many years before I started to post. I started posting because I was so excited when Lavin was hired but started to see cracks in the foundation. I took a lot of abuse from two posters who didn't agree, so I empathize with you. Give Chris some time(a few years)..... I have been a fan for over thirty years and he is the best thing that ever happened to the school in that time frame.

P.S - Anthony (the corrections officer) Glover is playing in a summer league at Baruch. They have games on Tuesday's and Thursday's and the level of play is pretty good. Take some time out and enjoy a game if you are in the area.

Nobody is acting like we "have it all in the bag." How do you not get that? I might be the only poster that thinks we even have a shot to be a bubble team next season. Overall, most fans are just hopeful and happy to have one of our own that wants to see this program succeed on a very personal level separate and beyond what a typical coach would feel.

Are you allowed to question and cast your doubts? Yeah, but you don't have to do it at every opportunity. Your negativity comes through on every single one your posts. What's the point of this:

"There are some voids to be filled. What are we going to do if we land great recruits but there's no system or situational coaching asset to get us over the hump?"

You are creating problems in your head that don't exist and then blaming the staff. That doesn't seem insane to you? Do you think the staff wouldn't agree there are voids to be filled? Did you really expect every void to be filled in 90 days when the team just graduated four starters and had to very questionable key players remaining?

I'm not creating a problem. We are going to need an in game coach who can run offensive sets, who can feel the game in the moment and apply the proper defense, etc.

Your points are fair enough. I'll just point out that had it not been Chris Mullin, and been some other guy from the NBA who had yet to EVER coach a college game and has no local connection, no emotional connection to the fan base, the masses on here would have similar doubts and questions and frankly would be calling for heads to roll. It's an objective standpoint.

When it comes to basketball, I will put my faith in Chris Mullin any time. He wasn't just a HOF player , and an SJU legend but he was a student of the game. I think this staff has done an excellent job so far considering when they came in and what they were left with. I'm with Marillac, I think if we can be a bubble team next year. If we get Rowan and Papa we can be a VERY GOOD TEAM come February and in a little weaker Big East this year we make the tournament. A few things have to fall into place for that to happen. They might fall into place or they might not but this staff knows the direction they want to go in and the type of player that they are looking for to fit the system they want to play. You can see that. I'm excited about the future!!

But he is Chris Mullin, and he does have a connection to the local programs, and there is an emotional connection to the fan base which includes many big donors, and he does understand the city and the program and what it takes to run a successful program. Yeah people would be up in arms if if someone else with no coaching experience was hired, but it wasn't someone else who was hired, it was Chris Mullin.

@WojYahooNBA: Denver coach Michael Malone has hired well-regarded Ed Pinckney as his top assistant, league sources tell Yahoo. He had been with Bulls.
