Unless our recruits are from Europe or Delaware we are not going to wow any local kids.
Union Turnpike will never be confused with Main Street in Ann Arbour.
How the recruit bonds with the coaches and players is the key. Having a record of success is important and recruiting can either get much easier or much harder after this coming season. I am betting it will get easier as Mully gets established and Matt has had a longer time to lay foundations.
I am betting that it will get better after this coming season as we will win more games and show a positive trajectory in the winning column. However unless we completely tank which we won't it will not get much harder. Recruiting at SJU has always been hard and that will never change because as you said Union Turnpike will never be mistaken for Main Street in Ann Arbour.
Should contend for Dance spot provided staff demands & expects defensive concentration, execution & players embrace that. Scoring is there obviously, but depending on winning shootouts every night is not a winning formula for most teams.
This a key year to establish a winning culture, which will obviously positively impact recruiting. I think they can achieve that provided key injuries don't occur.

Bucknasty85 is reporting on VUHOOPS that Cole Swider will choose Villanova over Duke and Syracuse today at 3:30 eastern. Big pickup for BIG EAST. Many thought he was going to Duke.

Union Turnpike may not be confused with Ann Arbor's Main Street; however fortunately we have Madison Square Garden as our draw for recruits.

Last month I went to Columbus Ohio and saw one of these giant campuses that are supposedly so much better than SJU and was totally disappointed. The campus is immense with over two hundred buildings and is maintained at a high level but there is very little green space. There are just too many buildings and more are going up to accomadate sixty thousand students.
The area outside the main entrance is not as nice as Union Trnp. It is mainly fast food places and bars and houses rented to students because of the shortage of dorms to accomadate the student body.
Talking to four grads, two who graduated forty years ago and two some fifteen years ago they all said it is just too big and still growing. You only get to know the students in your dorm and will never have a number of classes with the same students.
We will lose recruits to this type of school but it will be for other reasons than the campus I think.

As you said, you visited one. There are others that are large and do have green spaces (if you are in to that type of thing). Each campus and atmosphere is different. And if you haven't noticed, the St. John's campus has a lot of buildings with very little green space.
The point I was trying to make is when we miss out on recruits it will most times not be because of the size of the campus.
Schools miss out on recruits for any number of reasons, sometimes several. Campuses size, rather big or small or their aesthetics sometimes can be one of the factors, doesn't have to be the main one and of course it might not be a factor at all.
