Angel Delgado is returning to school next season, per his Twitter page. Seton Hall is a Top 25 team. #shbb

Although I won't be happy about this when Seton Hall plays us, I am glad to see that he wants to finish his education and career as a student athlete. With all of the "one & done" stories we read & hear about this time of year, it's refreshing to see someone deciding to stay in school. Definitely makes The Hall a top 25 team in my opinion, which can only help the Big East.

I agree, this is good for the Big East. They'll have 4 seniors starting next year with 2 years experience in the NCAA. Hopefully the BE does better in the tourney next year.

Delgado = Johnny Kryptonite

Not necessarily. Delgado is great and difficult to stop, but Creighton did it when they doubled him. We beat them when we jumped him as well. Delgado requires a lot of pressure on him. Delgado is a special case though. Almost no teams have a Delgado. He's not just a double-double guy. He can't jump at all yet he's a 20/20 guy.

For Seton Hall and the Big East it's great to have him back.

I want strong local rivals, it's only healthy for SJU. With Syracuse in the ACC and too afraid to play us, I'll always root for teams like Seton Hall, Nova, Georgetown, and the rest of the Big East to do well OOC.

Big for Xavier!

Trevon Bluiett is returning to Xavier next season, per a source. Entered 2017 NBA Draft without an agent. HUGE Big East news.

So Patton, Peak and Sumner are the only BE underclassmen players to stay in the draft. Good for the conference to keep it that low.

Big East going to be amazing yet again this year. 8 teams with real shots at going dancing (including the Johnnies).

it's going to be real important that we play in well out of conference games because league play is going to be a bitch

Gotta get to a position where 10-8 maybe 9-9 gets us in. Touch ooc this year but I am looking forward to it.

The team made a six game improvement from the year before in conference play. At one point during the season, many were lamenting those OCC losses because it may cost them a NIT bid.

Now, I do not expect an extra six wins in BE during the upcoming season, but I do expect another jump.

With the everyone familiar with each other (the transfers practiced with them) there is no reason this team should not finish 9-9 in conference.

Above all, the kids should have learned to not take an "inferior " opponent lightly. All those wins count in the end. Even Mullin improved from a freshman coach to a sophomore one.

Another reason for optimism is that more often than not, the team played very well at the Garden. Who knows, with an improved roster, they can even pad their win total in the BE tourney.

All things being equal (can't predict injuries), I am confident we will be sitting on pins and needles (needles and pins) next selection Sunday with this group being firmly in the tournament bubble (I am stopping short of predicting if they make it or not).

Nice post! With infusion of some talented new guys, maturation of returnees, dedication by staff & players to playing consistent defense & some luck avoiding injuries of consequence, this team should be in hunt for a NCAA bid. With degree of difficulty so high in BE, have to bring it on both ends of court every game. I also expect us to minimize blowouts & improve greatly on the road. Should be fun.

I am hoping Delaware State is on the schedule again. We owe them payback big time. I am guessing they won't be invited back any time soon. Pretty sure the same for St. Thomas Aquinas as an exhibition opponent.

Use last year's Marquette results as a barometer/target. Would be challenging but not impossible improvement and would likely result in a bid. That's a 3 win improvement in OOC and a 2-3 win improvement in conference. Time will tell. Only 3 teams got at large bids with less than 20 wins last year. All had 19. But a 20 win BE team with at least a .500 conference record should always get a bid.

Trevon Bluiett could be this year’s Josh Hart

Twelve months ago Hart opted to return to Villanova instead of leaving school early for the NBA Draft. Now Bluiett is doing the exact same thing for Xavier.

Like Hart, Bluiett is expected to be the Big East Preseason Player of the Year entering next season, returning to a team that has several key pieces back from last season’s squad that reached the Elite Eight and lost to Gonzaga.

The 6-6 wing averaged 18.5 points and 5.7 rebounds last season as a junior, all while making 91 shots from long distance. Bluiett also scored 25 points in the Musketeers’ Sweet 16 upset of Arizona.

It will be interesting to see if Chris Mack uses the Indianapolis native as a skilled four-man rather than a traditional small forward, given Bluiett’s ability to create mismatches on offense.

If he mans the “four,” Xavier will need another perimeter player, potentially either Paul Scruggs or Naji Marshall (both top-100 freshmen) to be consistent enough to earn regular minutes alongside veterans Quentin Goodin and J.P. Macura

Seton Hall to play Temple at MSG in Under Armour Reunion this season.
