Most impactful grad transfer in BE

" Kerem Kanter comes to Xavier after a solid career at UW-Green Bay. Seeing his points and rebounds skyrocket this past season, Kanter is the type of interior piece Xavier was looking for this spring. Xavier will lose RaShid Gaston to graduation but already have Tyrique Jones, Kaiser Gates and Sean O’Mara slotted in for a bevy minutes on the frontline.

Adding a big body like Kanter, a nice piece off the bench who can score and rebound and who has already been on a college hardwood for nearly 1,000 minutes, is icing on the cake for a program attempting to knock off Villanova atop the Big East totem pole."

Icing on the cake for Xavier and we don't even have the cake batter.

It's beyond comprehension at this point. This staff has failed this recruiting cycle. I still have faith in them to right the ship eventually as we have much more talent on this team than we've had in a while but this recruiting cycle has been dismal

I don't recall ONE post saying there were no options to recruit. I recall a million whining because we haven't gotten anyone. Give it a break, no one is happy about that, but the staff is out there recruiting, sometimes things just don't work out, that's life. Sorry not all of us want to just cry, cry, cry. We were at rock bottom and if you thought climbing out was going to be easy you know NOTHING about CBB. Personally I am tired with the sobbing like we are entitled to get whoever we want, or anyone for that matter. The program has essentially been in the toilet since Louie left with one coaching fiasco after another so to think recruits are dying to come here or we offer anything head and shoulders above the programs we are competing against is just idiotic. Yes we are fans, we root and hope for the best but reality is reality. Mullin was a huge gamble but frankly, here is a newsflash, coaches were not falling over each other to come here. He has made mistakes but you are just kidding yourself if you think he wasn't going to. For goodness sakes, give the staff a reasonable amount of time to get established and build relationships; experienced coaches have taken considerably longer time to turn around programs in much better shape than we were.

Would you rather spend your last year of eligibility at a school that just made the elite 8 with a real good shot at doing it again, or go to a team that would love to just make the NIT?

There have been several posts arguing that we haven't signed a big man bc there weren't options.

In any event, next year will be year three and, as of now, we have eight eligible scholarship players (I don't count Amar) and no legitimate big man. Let's see what happens next year, but time is running out. Fingers crossed.

Ok there were several posts highlighting there were very few big man options and a few very well written posts that detailed that had a solid big man selected SJU there were few minutes available on a team that could be NIT or borderline NCAA material. In other words there were much better options for Kanter, like Xavier.
As of now we have 9 returning players, not sure why you don't count AA, who has been on the team for 3 seasons. We also have a very good transfer sitting out as the staff is preparing for the future.
Really not sure why time is running out ?
SJU has been playing ball for over 100 seasons and will continue to do so. Could recruiting have been better , absolutely but I am not sure why I have to sift through 20 plus posts daily or more expressing disappointment in the staff. I really don't see the utility in regurgitating the same crap over and over.

Nice pick-up. I don't think he is on the level of Rodney Pryor who was a grad transfer that helped them a lot last year.

I don't count Amar bc while by all accounts, he's a good kid, he's a liability on the court. If you believe some posters, the staff holds him in such low regard that they have pushed him out the last two years only to invite him back bc they couldn't fill his scholarship.

As for time running out, unfortunately we live in a society that demands instant results. If the staff does not generate results by year three, it will be nearly impossible to recruit talent here. As it is, it remains to be seen what kind of class we will bring in for 2018.

Finally, if reading posts expressing frustrations with our recruiting truly causes you so much anxt, I respectfully suggest you skip over the posts rather than responding. It may save you some heartburn.

3 star big guy. Sodom will be plugging up the rear for years to come for the Hoyas.

Wonder if we will take a look at 16-year-old, 7-foot-7 Robert Bobroczky. After spending the past two years with Italian club Stella Azzurra he is in the United States.  This where Amar Alibegovic and Federico Mussini can play a role.  BTW, Robert has the longest neck I've ever seen on a human.

Oh boy......I'll stay silent and enjoy the disgruntled comments.

WTF, are we even trying ? Something is drastically wrong. I forgot if it's Moose or Mkras but yes we are doomed - to mediocrity.
