Around the Big East

The question becomes just what have we got to offer: an education but not a highly regarded one, a college social life a limit one, after waiting a couple years a chance to play in Big East games not win but play in.

These kids are generally aware that they are not on the way to the NBA so it would seem we are not exactly a great choice

Re: Jersey Catholic School Kids

With the exception of a small handful of kids, none of these recruits care about the quality of the education. I wish that wasn't the case, but it is reality.

Totally agree but they do not care for quality of the education it is perception of quality. The Kids here are 3star player capable of doing college caliber work.

Rodriguez was definitely under-recruited but let's remember that he was part of the Whitehead/Tiny Morton package. Had we hired Tiny as an assistant, we probably would have taken Desi as well.

I don't put Desi or Whitehead on the last staff; Lavin chose not to get into bed with Tiny. It got him fired, but at the time we had enough momentum on the recruiting front that we should have landed quality kids had Lavin and the staff recruited like they did from the beginning. That part is on Lavin, of course, but I don't think we really "missed" on Desi all things considered. And I think the Hall lucked into getting him because they didn't know what they had.

Carrington I put more on the old regime. He was a top 100 kid in our back yard. We recruited him hard and there was talk we were in good shape at one point. Granted, part of the reason he went to the Hall was because of the Antigua/Delgado/Lightning connection, but I've heard that Delgado could have been had if we recruited him the right way.

Looks like Watson of Creighton has a torn ACL...Awful news

Nice of Mussini to send his best wishes to Watson, class!

Caught the last few minutes of the Nova Seton Hall game. Wright had most of his stars in up 30 until 20 seconds left. I know SH beat them in the BE tournament last year, but am I missing something? Seems a bit harsh.

I think they were a legit Elite Eight/Final Four team. Would have beaten a blue blood along the way not expecting them to be that good.
