Around the Big East

April 4, 2016 was a big day for the entire Big East Conference when the League served notice to the rest of the nation a team that is unable to win the Big East Tournament can become the National Champion men's basketball team.

Below is a fun video of reactions when Villanova won the national Championship.

Another very good 4 star BE 16 addition;

Xavier lands commitment from 2017 wing Elias Harden. Georgia native, played for Game Elite. Scorer. 4 Star kid.

As we get psyched about our recruiting, which we should, it is also evident the good BE teams are not standing still. Tough league.

which makes coaching and player development just as important as players

Xavier per Rothstein strikes again, excellent program;

2017 wing Naji Marshall has committed to Xavier, per his twitter page. Another good get for the Musketeers.

Top 50 level player in some ratings.

I love what Xavier are Villanova are doing. They are the two model programs of the Big East. I'm glad that our beloved Johnnies have begun following suit. We need to grab 25-150 rated kids that are going to stay and develop into great players after four years, not the quick five star one and dones. No one in our conference can run their program that way. We just don't have the campuses, resources and clout of the big public/flagship institutions to sustain a constant revolving door of talent. I'm glad we occasionally gather traction with a top five star kid, but they can't be the backbone of a Big East program anymore. The money and opportunity has exploded outside of college basketball.

X and Nova are going to be excellent teams for the foreseeable future. I'm Excited for our conference and of course our Johnnies.

Agree except that if CM gets us to the level you are describing, I suspect some one and done talent will opt for Hall of Fame member staff and MSG before they move to the pros.

Omari Spellman has the chops to be the best offensive big man that Jay Wright has ever had at Villanova. Takes and makes threes. Talented.

Have to agree with "Mr. Hyperbole"

More JR;
Early prediction on Villanova's starting five: Jalen Brunson, Phil Booth, Josh Hart, Kris Jenkins, Omari Spellman.

Villanova's versatility may its greatest strength: Hart, Jenkins, Mikal Bridges, and Eric Paschall are all interchangeable. Hard to guard.

Everyone in that lineup can handle the ball. Reloading v Rebuilding

You could also say success breeds success. Nova's growth under Wright took a few years. I'd be happy if we approached that same scenario, although some people here might not be willing to give Chris a chance to get there.

I'd be ecstatic & finally could rest in peace. :)

Notice I said "approach". :)

Per Zags:
Josh Hart went for 23 and Eric Paschall 21 as Villanova beat the Spanish Select Team 84-58 Tuesday in Madrid. Nova loaded once again.

Eric Paschall is going to be trouble for Nova's opponents. Went 7-for-11 with 2 3-pointers. "Eric just got better each game," Jay Wright.

IMO, perfect program for Paschall.
