Good news continues for Seton Hall. 4-star 2017 guard Myles Cale of Delaware verbals per source. #hallin

I've seen Cale in person, great get for seton hall. Seems like they will be good for the next few years as well as this year

They've definitely leap-frogged us in terms of where each program is. Who could have foreseen that last year?

Carrington will make sure the Hall is no worse than decent these next two years. I happen to think williard gets a little bit of a bad rap

Wasn't he coach of the year in the Big East? BTW, last night he got my vote when he benched Rodriquez in the second half for lack of hustle after throwing a pass away. He never got back in the game, deservedly so.

Co-Coach of the year with Jay Wright.

Apparently not you. Must have been blind to Lavin's lack of recruiting and depleted roster. :pinch:

Last year, they were a bigger mess by leaps and bounds over anything that we were going through. I didn't foresee the ship being righted that quickly. A couple of players and an assistant coach leave and they are a tournament team. Few thought Willard would even survive last year.

As far as us, While I wasn't crazy about Lavin's recruiting, i didn't think it was as bad as some people did. I also didn't think he would be let go coming off making the tournament. Even after he was fired and Chris was hired, I didn't foresee the epically bad year that we had. I'm confident things will get better (eternal optimist) but I don't like playing 2nd fiddle to the Hall locally.

Sorry -- from fans and message boards alike. We can tell hes got plenty of respect from within. 6 years is a long time this day and age.

Whitehead was absolutely terrific last night. Creighton will be a force next year with that 5 star recruit and that Kansas state transfer to mesh with their great point guard and Cole Huff.
They retooled pretty well this year after a dismal 2014-15 season...testament to what a point guard will do...hopefully we make similar leap

It was tough not be to envious of seton hall last night. A bunch of New York City kids playing and winning a big game in the garden.

Yeah, I know many posters still get ticked about Tiny /Whitehead/ Willard stuff, but give credit where due. As noted by another poster, Willard & staff have markedly improved SH defense. They also have a very good shooter coming next year & this current success should equate to solid recruiting. Just me, but I would love to see SH & SJU both prosper, creating an intense local rivalry.
In the past, I didn't like some of their kids...but I like this group and I think Willard has done a pretty good job...

For those who say NYC basketball is dead, go watch Jefferson and Lincoln play at the Garden tomorrow and Loughlin play Xaverian at Fordham on Sunday. Also watch Seton Hall's backcourt of Whitehead(Lincoln) and Carrington(Loughlin) play. They have 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists combined in the first half against the #5 team in the country.

Thanks Steve.

Hall playing great right now. Defense causing major disruptions.

Question for the board - I don't recall Seton Hall being particularly good defensively at any point over the past 5 years. They have been very impressive of late. Folks believe that is due to Willard simply improving as a coach, or to the fact that they have upgraded the talent big time with a slew of strong, athletic, long guards/forwards (along with Gordon and two other bigs off the bench)

Whitehead is a goner in a few weeks
If Jerian Grant was a 1st rounder, Whitehead is a lock off his play this year. Real impressive skill set.

Why risk tearing a knee playing at a half empty prudential center next year. Strike while the iron is hot

How many of these Hall fans cheering for Willard were calling for his head during last seasons tourney? Almost every one of them.

Jarien Grant was 6'9 and a stud athlete.

Whitehead has set himself up to be THE face of the bigeast next year. Similar to Dunn last year, pub will be everywhere if he sticks around.

As I've said before, if we have 5 years under this staff like Willard had for his first 5 at Seton Hall, this board might blow up

Exactly! But now things are rosy because of one, solid season. This thing could go back to being dismal in another season (depending, on who leaves) or two.

They're having a good season. Congrats to their squad for it! Do it for about 3 consecutive seasons, and then I'll be convinced they're truly "on their way."

Where are the guys who said that Carrington was not good enough for us?

No one has said that lately. They were saying it before his senior year in high school. And then he apparently improved a lot that year. I'm not sure they even said anything bad about him last season when his stats were just OK.

He's worked hard, and is probably trending toward 17 or 18 ppg next season, but I'm OK with him being there and not here. Of course we could have used the help this season, but we can't do anything about that now.
