Georgetown over Elon, and Providence edges Yale, 76-74. Would have been embarrassing loses, especially GT going down to Elon.

In the battle of ex-Big East teams, Cincinnati over Pitt, 44-43 in a very ugly game.

That is probably his answer to most schools in the Big East outside of Villanova.

His answer (in reference, to Big East schools), like his brackets, could also change in the next 2 or 3 months.

Just because Nova is top 10 and undefeated doesn't mean they are a lock for top 3 in big east standings. They live and die by the three, and if they go cold during conference play they could find themselves in the middle of the pack of the conference standings. They beat Kansas and everyone thinks they have the top spot of BE locked up. They still have to play the games.

Villanova, Marquette, Georgetown, Xavier, Butler, Creigton will battle with us for top 3. And maybe even Providence if their suspended players come back and make a big impact. It's not going to be easy, but it can be done we have the talent

Actually, I don't think Villanova has a top 3 spot locked up. But I think they'll likely finish in the top 3.

I, actually, mentioned 'Nova because they could finish in the top 5 with a 11-7 conference record, and probably make the dance with a resume' of beating Kansas and Iowa.

I wasn't really responding to any of your posts. What I was responding to in General was that there is an overall attitude on the board that top 3 in Big East gets us in NCAA tournament. And that's not just random talk, this was backed by Joe Lunardi. So i am not disagreeing with the "top 3" notion, what I disagree with is posters having this attitude that we are fighting for the second and third spot because Villanova has the first one already. As you mentioned they have two GREAT wins, but that does not mean anything towards the Big East Standings. It shows they are the team to beat, but it does not give them the top spot in the big east, they have to go out an earn it.

The reason it may come off as I'm taking it out on you or "hating" on Nova, is because where I live everyone is a Villanova fan. And they all have this sense that because they are a top 10 team at the moment and they beat a Kansas team that is still trying to figure themselves out, that the have the top spot in the big east on lockdown. I was talking to long time Villanova fan yesterday and he said once the threes stop dropping they are going to be in trouble. I agree, and just want anyone here that maybe hasn't watched Villanova yet and just assumes they are amazing because of their record and rank to know that they are not head and shoulders above us at all.

Just start winning and all this will take care of itself. We should worry about sustaining a full game of quality basketball. Playing one half of sub par or lousy ball is flirting with danger. I respect the notion we have a talented roster. That said, the staff must evidence the ability to harness that and achieve results.

Well said.

It could, however looking at the BE teams no one besides Nova has any high quality wins. Also no one besides G Town to Northeastern and Seton Hall to FDU and St Peters have any bad losses. I don't think there's a lot more opportunity for the BE to pick up high profile OOC wins and that will hurt as they cannibalize each other through the conference season. GTown has Kansas and Michigan State left, Nova has Syracuse. It would be great for the conference to win a couple of those games.

Former Big East member and #10 ranked UCon (with one "n") lose at home to the unranked Cardinal. All together now: "Awwwwww...."

Did anyone see the other upset of the night? Texas took down UNC, in chapel hill. I don't know if anyone has watched Texas, but they don't have one talented outside shooter. Just like us, they have a bunch of athletes, so what they do is run up and down the court all night long and because of that they had 52 points at the half against UNC.

When we share the ball and everyone is involved we are different team...one that can beat most teams...

Yup, I watched it - flipping back & forth between three games at one stage. The Longhorns almost blew it with missed FTs and gave away a crazy technical foul right at the end. Uconn were cruising in the first half but forgot there was another 20 to play.

SH is kiling the conference this year. The Big East would be the only conference in the country with every team inside the top 100 of the RPI if not for the #147 Seton Hall Pirates. As it stands, the Big Eas is the only conferencs in the country with all but one team in the top 100. St. John's has to sweep SH this year or the RPI damage could be bad.

Haha yea that game boiled down to who could make the stupider play. Texas had it in the bag until the flagrant 1, then Texas missed their free throws but the Texas kid who missed the free throws wasn't boxed out after the second miss and ran in and put the ball in. Texas is 10-1 now with wins @ Temple, Vanderbilt, and @ UNC, and they play Michigan state on Saturday. Interesting team to watch and they are completely made of freshmen, sophomores, a few juniors, and no seniors.

A lot of big conference games on Saturday.

Georgetown at Kansas
Xavier at Alabama
Marquette at New Mexico

Queue not qualifying next year in 3, 2, 1:

@GrantTraylor: Huntington Prep's Angel Delgado is no longer with team due to academic reasons. He will transfer over Christmas break.
