First real look at Nova and they have played poorly. Will not consider them a real tournament threat as long as they stay a completely perimeter oriented team.

Maybe not but the point is they have nothing else to go to. They will have a good record no doubt because they have talent but IMO they seem to remain a one trick pony, passing the ball around the perimeter until someone fires a 3. No inside presence on either end of the floor.
 
What's happened to Ochefu? I thought he was ready to take the next step after last year and instead he's only playing 20 mins/game?

Doesn't he get in foul trouble a lot? Plus, last night they just needed to keep firing away from outside to try and shoot there way back into the game, not that it worked.

Too early for RPI's. Valpo has a good team this year but not sure they should be ranked #2 :)

Yah well you got to watch the 2 boys from Montreal, that is why their RPI is so high :) :p
Tevonn Walker is doing very nicely for them at the point.

Interesting how SJU scheduled Xavier at Carnesecca this year......does anyone know the last time we played and/or beat a top 10 team on campus?......good chance Xavier may be in the top 10 by January 6th....
 
2004-2005 Boston College???. Their last season in the Big East ..they started the season 20-0 I believe the game was played in a bad snowstorm.

Makes Xavier look much better too considering they absolutely destroyed Dayton on a neutral court

On the down side hopefully Bentil's injury isn't serious as Providence is a BE team that can make some noise with a good seed in the tourney. I thought with Bentil and Dunn out in the 2nd half they eventually adjusted and managed the win but they'll need both those guys all year to get a good seed.

What's interesting about Butler -- beyond the fact that the Bulldogs are 7-1 and ranked 18th nationally -- is that Chris Holtmann has his team winning in an entirely different way than it won last season. The Bulldogs won 23 games last season playing slow (246th in tempo) -- and they were bad offensively (82nd in offensive efficiency) and great defensively (7th in defensive efficiency). But this season the Bulldogs are playing significantly faster (94th in tempo) -- and they're great offensively (8th in offensive efficiency) and bad defensively (86th in defensive efficiency). Things have completely flipped. Not sure what it means, exactly. But the Bulldogs host Tennessee on Saturday at Hinkle.

Caught a bit of a cold this week which would normally bum me out but it's giving me a great excuse to rest this weekend and watch some hoops. Great games tomorrow:
