Everybody's big bad Butler not so good tonight/ Big East no where as good as last years start to non conference

Butler down 4 with 2 1/2 to go.
Best team in conference, hands down.

Far too early to say anyone is the best team in the conference.

Miami has a quick and athletic bunch.

Butler much better in the second half but still lost by ten. Way too early to say they are better then Georgetown, Villanova or Xavier.

Monster ACC conference again showing they are best with not one team with more than i loss.
Hate them but they are good.

Same can be said for the Pac 12 and Big 12, re one loss teams. It's early. Fully expect the ACC to be strong of course just saying.

Duke/Georgetown draws in more spectators for a November game than the big east tourney can draw in March when college hoops is king.

This really sucks for the league

The league has been in existence for a year, I don't know if it will create the buzz anywhere near the old one but we do need to give it a chance. Duke is Duke and will always draw in NY as long as K is their. Otherwise, football calls the shots and It is only going to get tougher for basketball only schools. I think it will help immensely if we can quickly, in 3 or 4 years, create a real national presence.

That's why, even though everyone hates them, I'm not against adding uconn to the league. The tournament would get a lot more seats filled, probably the same deal if we added Dayton

Yeah if we're going to add teams. UConn and Dayton would be terrific. As much as I hate going against UConn, they have a huge fan base and they're back in the national spotlight every few years. And Dayton obviously has a great program and coach that's going to continue to be around during March. Two great programs with great fans.

I have to admit I really like the scheduling for a 10 team conference though. I like that everyone has to play everyone twice. You get to know all the teams in your conference and I feel like it helps foster rivalries which always help a league's perception. I don't want to become a ACC or SEC with 14 or 15 teams. The old Big East was the most fun conference ever but that 16 team era was annoying.

10 is fine.
After Seton Hall gets Danny Hurley, every team ,save DePaul, is going to be competitive most years.
Marquette an Creighton should make significant jumps next year, as should SJU.

SHU is not getting Danny Hurley!

No interest on his part or theirs?

Please stop with Uconn. They left. Screw them. They thought they were bigger than the BE because they have football. The BE would be foolish to let them return, because they will leave again when another football conference calls.

Uconn does not want to be in the Big East because it'd mean giving up on football. They are holding out for ACC/B1G/etc. Now whether that's smart doesn't matter, fact is they're all in on football for now.

They don't have to give up football. They just need to go down to the same league nova is in or the same division of football. Uconn used to be there.

And yea UConn left and I don't like them, but I love this conference and this deal with fox and the deal with MSG to have the BET. And if adding UConn would increase our viewer numbers on FS1 and our attendance at MSG in March I wouldn't mind

@NJHoopsHaven: Seton Hall's Desi Rodriguez made the Big East's weekly honor roll. Nova's Josh Hart is Player of the Week. St. John's Yankuba Sima is ROY.

LSU v Marquette tonight in Brooklyn at BA. Welcome Brandon Sampson, who is starting & playing a lot of minutes.

There are member schools that did not bring fans here for the past two years. Duke and Kentucky always draw here, but now it is different. It's like they are on another level. The league needs to put real pressure on the Xavier's and the others to bring people to the tournament. We can't call ourselves a hoops centric conference and draw 15k crowds to a championship in NYC. If the league can't figure out how to sell out the tournament by year three they may as well move it.
