Besides Notre Dame, Stanford and USC what private schools are currently (last 20 years)?more than an occasional blip on the FBS radar? Those three schools are 100 years of history above Villanova.

I've seen those numbers before Kevin-similar to dook's.
When they show the student body section on TV, they must not pan in on the "students of color".

What league gonna want Nova as another partner to split the pot with?

Unless they start drawing 50,000 a game for football none of the big conferences are going to want to deal with them.

Think Coach K would push for them to join the ACC, even if they draw 20,000 a game for football.

I can't see them going to ACC even if they can somehow get up to 30,000 attendance. I think The American would be a better bet for them, but even then we are getting ahead of ourselves. Also a 30,000 seat stadium doesn't yet exist in Philly, PPL (the MLS Stadium) is too small for ACC standards and any number they drew at Lincoln financial would look really bad in a 70,000 seat stadium. (Not to mention scheduling conflicts with Temple and over use of the field) That said maybe they can expand Villanova Stadium to ACC standards and fill it, I dunno.

Villanova would never join the American for the same reason why Memphis would never be allowed to join the ACC, academics matter. Villanova would probably join the Patriot League for football before joining the American.

It is an interesting debate about the stadium situation but people have to remember that Villanova was ready to pull the trigger to join the Big East in football just a few years ago but Pitt and Rutgers blocked them, then the Big East broke apart and the rest is history. But with that in mind, there was definitely a plan in place about the stadium.

Villanova lost to BC at BC in 2013, 24-14, and lost to Syracuse in OT at The Dome last year. They are favored to beat UConn a week from today. You give them the 30 extra scholarships (or whatever the difference is between FBS & FCS) to work with and they can compete. Will they be Florida State? No. But they could be BC.

Regardless, whoever said it was more of a fundraising move is correct. Villanova doesn't have any plans to move up unless the ACC asks them to.

@WeAreDePaul: Ranking Top 10 Big East Point Guards -http://t.co/gvSbicmYX4 #dpubb #

9. Marcus LoVett Jr., Freshman, St. John’s

Just a freshman, a lot of responsibility will unfortunately be thrust upon LoVett at St. John’s, as new head coach Chris Mullin is working with pretty much a blank canvas in his first year at his alma mater. LoVett is a wizard on the court, as it seems he has eyes on the back of his head when passing the ball. But considering the lack of great scoring options surrounding him and him learning on the fly as a freshman, expect LoVett to have an up-and-down season. Or, in other words, a mostly standard freshman campaign.

There is absolutely no reason why the students that participate in revenue producing sports at NCAA Division 1 schools should not receive stipends equal to what they would receive for a part time job (i.e. $2,600) during the school year.

Appalachian State beat #5 Michigan in Ann Arbor, but they could not compete in the Big Ten that year. It's easy to get up for one game when it is essentially your Super Bowl. Also, BC, Cuse and Uconn have been terrible. Uconn was 2-10 last year and barely beat lowly Stony Brook 19-16 at home.

Nova would never be able to hang in the ACC and would subject its players to serious injuries trying to do so. The ACC is one weak football addition away from being a joke. Even with the exit penalty, FSU needs to be looking elsewhere if there are any talks of adding to the league.

@BenStandig: Georgetown hiring Patrick Ewing Jr. as Dir. of Basketball Operations. He replaces Othella Harrington, who has left the program. #Hoyas

Uconn just got a commitment from a 5 star PF from Florida Jawan Durham. I guess reports of their demise have been greatly exaggerated. Too bad.

Football battle between old Big East foes. UCONN edges NOVA 20-15. The boob on TV predicts UCONN and Navy in the first AAC football championship. Yes there is such a thing now. What a joke. The talent level was similar to the Harvard - Yale game.
