I see us better this yr We will have better rebounding ,better all around shooting add a coach and staff that are knowledgeable, better size and every positions. If we can play decent D we can make the ncaa tourney. I know its a stretch but can see us motivated and doing it

IMO there is a 0% chance we are better this year. Some of you have amnesia. DLo, Dom, and Phil had phenomenal senior seasons, and we aren't ready to match how good they were. We are rebuilding and will get there. But for now no.

An Uncharacteristicly imprudent imprudent post by you, Jack. Approaching a prediction based on what a team loses is not wise. Individually Dlo and Pointer are very tough to replace, but last season's squad was riddled with gaping wholes....no size, zero depth, no scoring out of anyone above 6'4, only two reliable shooters, etc. Obekpa was a complete nonfactor in conference play and Jordan had a week stretch that cost us 2-3 wins.

The upcoming team has more size, more shooters (and at more positions), more depth, and more scoring ability. We have three all-Big East caliber guys and two potential draft picks.

Let's not forget how many rebounds we lost because of the size mismatches and how many easy layups were given up down low by guys givng up 4-6 inches.

We will not finish 8th. We will compete for an NCAA berth. This guy loses all credibility by putting Butler 5th. They are a clear top two team with a good chance to win the conference.

I don't wanna come off as pessimistic so I'll stop arguing. I'm very excited for next season. But I don't think we compete for a tournament next season. I'm excited to see mullin progress as a coach and the team mesh together throughout the year. As I said before I think we are a lot like Marquette was this past year. They had some good players such as Carlino and fisher but with a new coach and new players didn't have a great year. That's what I envision for next season.

Don't worry you are not coming off pessimistic. You've proven you are a great fan. I get why you feel the way you do, but lost in the spectacular plays by Harrison and Pointer last season were tons of easy baskets given up because of the severe lack of size. At the end of the year, these guys could't stop anyone from scoring. SDSU couldn't score all year and we made them look like the Globetrotters.

Durand would be a nightmare matchup for Dlo--someone that can match his strength, is more athletic, and slightly bigger. Who would have guarded Williams? He is the kind of player we made look like an All-American. CO and Jordan will be better than their 2014-2015 versions...I think Sheed can really blow up. And the bench is already better with 2/3 of our subs back with a year of experience and a shooter with size to provide some scoring.
Plus, the Big East will be weaker. I expect to finish 4-6. I think people are sleeping on Johnson, because if they saw him as a 15 and 4 All-Big East guy like me, they would have us in the top five.

I think next years team has a chance to be in the top 4 of the Big East.

Last years team truly struggled when Chris and Rysheed were out of the Lineup.

I do not want to disrespect last years team in any way. but I think we have upgraded the overall talent level of the team.
Again these our my thoughts on what I am projecting for next season.

Darien will be an upgrade from Phil at the SF spot. Better size.

Durand will have a hard time replacing D'Lo but I think other positions will make up for the short fall at the SG spot.

This will be Rysheed's show to run and I think that is the way he likes it. He wants to be the man and with the upperclassman the last 2 year it was always their time. With them gone I expect big things from Rysheed.

Chris O will be Chris O defend the rim and get put backs. If he upgrades his Offence then that would be a plus.

Now replacing Dom at the PF spot. Dom had a do it all season last year. His defense, shot blocking, and transition offence was outstanding. But lets not kid ourselves, his lack of an outside shot was a liability.

I know people are going to think I am nuts, but I really like Amar's skill set and think he has a big opportunity to be an impact player. I think he could be the most improved player in the Big East.

Our bench will be able to provide rest for the starters without a big drop off like we had last year. We will be able to finish games strong.

I am always a half glass full person.

The one thing we know for sure is that this team will be the total opposite of last years team. We now have a team that will excel in the half court game and rebound the ball. The team will run half court plays and get good looks at the basket. They might not score a ton of points but the style of play will be different from the past. I think Rysheed will benefit from this and get his assist numbers up.

I am optimistic about this season coming up but not going to use it to judge the future of the program.

Gotchya I just think people are writing off Mvouika as a non contributor too easily. He averaged 7 and 3.5 in 18 minutes. Thats 14 and 7 over 36 minutes. Do people realize how productive that is? He scored 28 @ norther Iowa! He can shoot and he is experienced.

He also had absurd averages at a stellar Hungtington Prep school (25 ppg) and his soph year at a good JUCO (like 20 ppg). Really the only year he didn't do extremely was his first year at JUCO (was still good) and his first year with a very solid 18-win MVC team. I wouldn't be surprised if he was better than we all thought, but I'm going to forecast him as a sixth or seventh man with anything else being a very pleasant surprise.
