Around the Big East

DePaul sweeps Seton Hall with the win tonight. They are showing that you just cannot lose a home game the rest of the way.Period. No excuse. That is just Big East style. .Home is a huge advantage in this league.

DePaul wins.

Willard taking alot of heat for some strange moves down the stretch, especially sitting Whitehead the last 3-4 minutes when DePaul pulled away. His love affair with Sina is starting to raise eyebrows also. Would be understandable if they didn't have any other calming influence but Gibbs plays under control and within the game plan.

Orovidence with a big win on the road at Georgtown. Great defense after DeRossiers hits two clutch FT's
7 and 3 in Big East.
Meanwhile going to OT at Xavier as Creighton misses two chances to win in regulation.

This Creighton-Xavier game has not exactly been one for the archives in Springfield.

Creighton may take it. Up 3 with 16 seconds to go.

Creighton wins at Xavier. First home loss for Xavier. Creightion with 2 Big East wins in three games going in the the SJU contest.

If you have a chance to see the highlights of the Marquette-Nova game, Matt Carlino took an awful fall. He went over the top of a Nova played and landed on his head, and was clearly dazed afterwards. He walked off the court on his own, but you'd have to believe there's some type of concussion there. I hope he's okay. Good player and I hate to see anyone have a scary fall like that.

Yeah, I saw that. Unbelievable that he wasn't seriously hurt .

A loss Saturday sets up a possible 10th place scenario in conference play.

What a wacky Big East season this is turning out to be. Seems like the only consistent team is Nova. Everybody else is on a roller coaster of a ride.

interesting that 25th ranked Texas has an identical record to St. John's
14 and 8 and 3 and 6 in the conference. I saw them play on a few occasions and they looked so
good. It is amazing how teams can get into funks. Penders is going to have to find a way to
get out of the mess, Lavin also.

When did Texas hire Tom Penders? I could have sworn he coached there 20 years ago and that Rick Barnes was the current coach :eek:hmy:

Now that is a missive. Mea Culpa.

Big 12 is very good this year. In the past I think you could argue that it was Kansas and a handful of overrated teams, but with 6 of 10 teams ranked, and Oklahoma St and Kansas St being very competitive.. they've got a lot of teams who are playing good basketball.

As an aside, I think WVU gets the least respect of all our former Big East partners. They've been consistently good under Belien and Huggins.

But at least Fred Akers is turning around the football program! ;) :)

Xavier is barely on the right sid of the bubble. If they keep this up they might find themselves out on Selection Sunday. They have been inconsistent this year....the BE May only send 5 teams (but I think we will have a better showing in the NCAAs than last year).

St. John's can seal the deal for both teams by sweeping Xavier.
