Around the Big East

This is correct - the X v. Creighton games are likely to decide which one makes it into the NCAA Tournament and where the league falls between 3 and 5 bids.

Also after the next 2 games play time is over for SJU and then we will find out if the team is a legit contender for a top-15 ranking and a 4/5 seed or falls to the bottom end of just out of the top 25 and an 8/9 game.

Lots of ball left to be played in the league.
The nightmare scenario is if we go 0-6 against Marq/UConn/Creighton. I donā€™t know if weā€™d even be on the bubble if that happened.

Having watched all the conference teams several times, the X sweep is impressive. Theyā€™ve e beaten both UCONN and Marquette. I think we match up well with UCONN but have to guard their 3 point shooters. I think we at least split with them. Marquette is the one Iā€™m most concerned about. We should be competitive. But theyā€™re very good and I donā€™t think we can take halves off against them. The Creighton loss was a lost opportunity. But I think we can get them next time. If we had won, thereā€™d be more separation in the conference. Oh well.

I think weā€™ll do fine in those 5 games. 2-3 or 3-2 most likely. If we do better, then weā€™re a top 10 team.

I agree with this. However it's worth keeping an eye on the fact that our schedule is basically the inverse of Xavier - they were front loaded and now they are probably going to win a lot of games.

We won a lot of games and now we are back loaded. Hopefully we compete well in the tough part of the schedule that is yet to come.

I agree with you completely. Those 5 games in particular will tell the story of the season. Very good but not great. Or great.

He's right. I'd love to know what the record is of away games during the winter break in Big East play. I'm sure there's a big discrepancy.
The rabid crowds at places like UConn, Xavier, Creighton, PC, Marquette & us at MSG (when good) is really a huge element of my loving the Big East.

Btw, has Val Ackerman moved to Tibet?

Sweeping multiple teams in BE is obviously not easy, but we are positioned well to do that. GT is next opportunity.
